Tassimo keeps secrets!
19 November 2014
Summary: I was totally dismayed to read the Caution Warning in the manual for the machine that stated, "Do not use chemically softened water". Scalding could occur. I called Tassimo and they verified that tap water which is chemically softened should not be used with T-Discs. I have a water softening system installed in my home and this would mean I would have to run out and buy bottled water to use the unit. Not my tap water!
Summary: To start with... I'm 70, and this is the very first "automatic" brewer I've ever owned or used. I used a traditional Melitta-style "pour-over" coffeemaker for all of my adult life, until I moved from Southern California to the Seattle area (i.e., "CoffeeLand") in '92. I walked into a Starbucks for the first time, explained my unfamiliarity, and asked about different sorts of coffeemakers... adding that I enjoyed strong, flavorful coffees.
Summary: We got this as a wedding present a few weeks ago, and so far it has worked almost perfectly. We really appreciate that it makes espresso and chocolate as well as coffee, and that the bar-code reader means we can make coffee even when half asleep. So why did I say "almost perfect"? One morning the water spewed out around the edges of the brewing chamber. It made a puddle on the counter, and left a mess of coffee grounds inside the machine.
Summary: I jut hurled this POS! Worked fine for a couple of months then coffee grounds and coffee everywhere. Bosch is quality but this is my second coffee machine from them that failed. Sadly no other makers for tassimo and K cup machines make only luke warm coffee.
Summary: I was an early adopter of the system. Had the original Braun machine for 11 years to the day (it was an anniversary gift). Used at least once a day for that entire time. It finally refused to enter "ready to brew mode". Replaced it with the t55. New machine is much quieter, a plus as the original could wake the family. The original also dripped water into the tray during the heat cycle (minor concern).
Summary: I just got my Tassimo T55 today and absolutely love it. I'm using it with Tassimo West Coast Dark Roast Gourmet Coffee and it makes a cup of coffee that I would be delighted to pay for in a good coffee house. I recommend this single cup coffee machine. To me the only drawback is cost. At this point Tassimo is not offering a refillable pod, so you will be limited to purchasing the t-discs to use this. If cost is not a factor for you, I recommend it without reservation.
Summary: Let me preface this by saying I got this machine for free, along with 5 packages of coffee, latte and cappuccino t-disks. I owned 2 Keurigs in a 19-month span, the first crapping out on me at 6 months and the free replacement I got after 13 months, about 5 weeks after the warranty expired. The coffee was always bland anyway unless you only purchased their 'bold' k-cups. Forget about the flavored coffees.
Summary: This is our third tassimo machine. We have one at home and one in the office. The "55" replaced a Keurig machine in our horse trailer living quarters. This is perfect for the trailer as it heats up fast, has a replaceable water filter (great for traveling), and works much better than the Keurig...so we tried the Keurig and went back to Tassimo, and this is a great Tassimo machine.
