Summary: Arrived cracked and no replacements were available. Kind of annoying. I had to call Amazon to get a refund for the item, as after I maile it back there was no timeline for a new one to come. Went with a Grosche model instead, which is made with all metal and no plastic parts (which tend to wear out quickly). Definitely much happier with that than any Bodum I have ever bought. I am definitely a power coffee drinker, and wanted something that would hold up and last.
Summary: Having used a New Kenya 18oz prior to this model, I was expecting to be satisfied with this new one. I used the previous press for over a year with no issues until the carafe broke. I purchased this new press on 12/27/2011 as a replacement. The good: Mostly stainless steel plunger assembly, including mesh filter and bottom plate. Plastic handle/carafe holder encompasses most of the carafe unlike other brands where the glass is more exposed.
Summary: I use Bodum 3-cup Chambord French Press everyday for more than 1 year. Purchased this New Kenya 34-ounce to make more cups of coffee for 2-4 persons. I thought the design of New Kenya was nice on the photo, but had a different opinion when actually seeing and using it. The Chambord "stainless steel" version is better than this plastic version for 2 reasons: The plastic holder cannot be separated from the glass for cleaning, so the water/moisture stays in between.
