Burr grinder

Sandog, coffeemakers.com
10 April 2012
  • Summary: Replaced a 25-year-old Braun and have been unhappy with new Krups finest grind being too coarse. New machine is quiet, though. Other competitors are more expensive. Only time will tell if as durable as the Braun.
  • Pros: Consistent Grind, Easy To Use, Large Hopper, Stylish
  • Cons: Can't grind finely enough, Messy

The Best Home I Have Ever Had Also

Edwin S., Newegg
5 June 2011
  • Summary: Beats the hell out of grocery store grinders, and you don't have to worry about the previous person grinding some flavored milk toast caca.
  • Pros: Works like a champ. Grinds very fine for espresso. I like my coffee strong, and this fills the bill. For regular drip coffee I find myself using 25% less than using the finest setting with grocery store grinders.
  • Cons: As others have said, "A bit noisy". I have to prepare the coffee the night before so as not to disturb the little woman in the morning.

Short life span!

Michael H., Newegg
13 March 2011
  • Pros: Got it for free as a Christmas present.
  • Cons: As mentioned, I received this grinder as a gift in December 2010. Now as of 3/13/2011, the unit no longer powers on. I had only used the unit twice since I've owned it!

Krups GVX2-12 Burr Grinder: An Exercise in Futility

neila452, shopping.com
18 March 2010
  • Summary: The Krups GVX2-12 is a poorly engineered product. Their customer service department is poor as well. If you buy it, you are stuck with it.
  • Pros: High class looks. An excellent doorstop.
  • Cons: Poor engineering design. Functions poorly at grinding coffee.

Great for drip coffeemakers and espresso.

Joshua B., Newegg
24 February 2010
  • Summary: If you're getting this for espresso in particular, then it is perfect. For a drip coffeemaker i'd recommend using one of the last two settings. If you use a french press this might not grind coarse enough for you.
  • Pros: It's quieter than any other grinder I've owned. It gives consistent results. It is compact, sturdy, and easy to clean.
  • Cons: I find all but the last two grind settings to be very fine. I feel the bean container could stand to have a higher capacity, but it's adequate.

The Best Home Grinder I Have Ever Had

Anonymous, Newegg
22 February 2010
  • Summary: I have wanted a burr grinder for a long time, but usually they cost around $200. This is a great value and I am very happy with my purchase.
  • Pros: It is relatively quiet, gives a perfect even grind, has great grind and cup number settings and doesn't add extra heat to your already roasted beans. Use some cold filtered water and you will be surprised at the difference. No more bitter taste and no more waiting forever to grind my coffee at the store or waking everyone up in the morning with a loud grinder.
  • Cons: Occasionally the beans will get "stuck" when using a finer setting, just give it a little shake to get them going again.

Easy to use

David H., Newegg
22 November 2009
  • Summary: My girlfriend has extremely high standards for her kitchen. One of her presents this year will be some Kona Peaberry or Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee and I am getting her one of these to grind it with.
  • Pros: It is so easy to get a uniform grind that I have become seriously addicted to espresso.
  • Cons: The container is a little awkward and it can be messy because of the fine espresso grind

  • Summary: Coffee snobs - ho hum all you want: This is a good grinder for the money!
  • Pros: Good for the money. Takes up precious little counterspace. Elegant design aesthetic.
  • Cons: Printing on item could be clearer. Receptacle container needs improvement of operation.
