First one failed. Replacement seems fine.

Paul L., Newegg
4 March 2013
  • Summary: *HINT - If your unit fails and it is still under warranty, DO NOT return it to NewEgg. Go directly through the manufacturer. DeLonghi requires that you send back the electrical cord only - a lot less expensive than sending back the entire grinder (as NewEgg requires).
  • Pros: I bought this unit to replace a 5-year old Cuisinart DBM-8, which had failed. The DeLonghi is quieter (not that important to me) and although there is an issue with static electricity, it is not nearly as severe as it was with the Cuisinart. So far, I am happy with the quality of the grinding.
  • Cons: The first unit that arrived did not work at all. The blue light on the on/off switch lit up, but nothing else happened - the machine was totally silent. I had to return it for a replacement. *See the hint below.

A great dissapointment

Brian B., Newegg
5 February 2013
  • Pros: I so wanted to like this machine - a significant upgrade from my Cuisinart blade grinder. The DeLonghi looks so much better, so well put together...
  • Cons: Unfortunately, it does not grind even close to fine enough for espresso and the coffee tastes foul. I am switching back to the Cuisinart that does a much better job and only cost me $10!

Works well; saves me coffee

Robert S., Newegg
4 September 2010
  • Pros: After setting up to my coffee pot size (length of time) and grind setting, I now only push one button in the morning and am ready to fill filter by the time I return from throwing away the old grinds. This is great for me as I hate measuring coffee; I prefer to just pour into filter and then judg...
  • Cons: Grinds stick to the plastic container.

Good but not perfect

David, Amazon
4 May 2015
  • Summary: I bought this to go with my Delonghi EC145 machine. It`s a nice bit of kit - light, not too big or noisy, and easy to use. I bought it despite the reviews claiming it does not grind fine enough for espresso.

Comparatively Impressed

Robert Segarty, Amazon
23 March 2015
  • Summary: My machine arrived this morning at 10 am and I must say compared to those hopeless blade grinders it has been a dream come through so far. The grinds are even, if you tamp correctly the crema is fantastic, mine looks like a small pint of Guinness and pours at a good rate for those of us that are a...

Coffee bean Grinder

David Lambert, Amazon
17 March 2015
  • Summary: It grinds well. My only minor criticism is it is difficult to avoid some of the grounds being spilt as the beans are attracted to the plastic because of the electrostatic charge, otherwise it would get five stars. Recomend

Decent grinder with a few limitations.

RJM, Amazon
28 February 2015
  • Summary: Working fine after a few weeks of use. This is my first electric grinder so I've no ability to make comparisons, but it seems to be working fine. The grinder is nice and small and doesn't take up much room in the kitchen, it produces a nice, evenly ground portion of coffee fairly quickly.the design...

starter grinder - do your research!

d___y___, Amazon
24 February 2015
  • Summary: Cons - grind consistency is not fantastic. it doesn't get quite down to an espresso grind (pretty much fine if you use any type of drip, however there seems to be no guide as to size of grind, the adjuster is just a series of dots, for this stepped grinder. oh and its a stepped grind.
