  • Excerpt: This grinder was exactly what I needed to go with my pump espresso machine. It has a wide range of settings and I found that 3 up from fine was perfect to create robust flavor and crema using the DeLonghi 15 bar pump machine. The pump machines require a bit of trial and error to produce the best cup of espresso. The right grind seems to me to make the biggest impact (combined with priming/heating properly before brewing).

First one failed. Replacement seems fine.

Paul L., Newegg
4 March 2013
  • Pros: I bought this unit to replace a 5-year old Cuisinart DBM-8, which had failed. The DeLonghi is quieter (not that important to me) and although there is an issue with static electricity, it is not nearly as severe as it was with the Cuisinart. So far, I am happy with the quality of the grinding.
  • Cons: The first unit that arrived did not work at all. The blue light on the on/off switch lit up, but nothing else happened - the machine was totally silent. I had to return it for a replacement. *See the hint below.

A great dissapointment

Brian B., Newegg
5 February 2013
  • Pros: I so wanted to like this machine - a significant upgrade from my Cuisinart blade grinder. The DeLonghi looks so much better, so well put together...
  • Cons: Unfortunately, it does not grind even close to fine enough for espresso and the coffee tastes foul. I am switching back to the Cuisinart that does a much better job and only cost me $10!

Works well; saves me coffee

Robert S., Newegg
4 September 2010
  • Pros: After setting up to my coffee pot size (length of time) and grind setting, I now only push one button in the morning and am ready to fill filter by the time I return from throwing away the old grinds. This is great for me as I hate measuring coffee; I prefer to just pour into filter and then judge the amount which means I use more than necessary at times (I always bought pre-grinded coffee before). Grind quality is high. Motor power is strong. I am happy with purchase...
  • Cons: Grinds stick to the plastic container.
