Summary: I purchased this product soley because it felt like it was made well. The quality of the unit as a whole seems very nice. Can't believe the quality in this thing for the price. SOLID item, sturdy. I just wanted a CD player that was super small and portable and this fit the bill. Item is still big for clock radio, FYI. Didn't want a cheap flimsy piece of plastic junk that would break or I had to baby so it wouldn't break.
Summary: We bought this product for playing CDs in my daughter's nursery. The CD player is easy to use, and I like having the time in the room as well. The number display is nice and big but not too bright for a nursery. We are not using the alarm features, so I cannot comment on that.
Summary: I bought a Sony ICF CD-815 for my son for Christmas. Worked well, has dual speakers and generally easy to program. All was well until the other night (6 months after purchase) when my son said it wouldn't play CDs any more. Checked out CD's - were OK, cleaned the CD player lens - seemed fine before cleaning, still would not play. CD player makes sounds like the heads are searching and not finding music tracks. CD lamp probably died.
Good, for what it is, and if you understand it's weaknesses

Summary: We bought this as a clock and CD player for my daughter's room... Let me start by saying that 1) it's not completely easy to use - the buttons are small, 2) no battery backup (which we're ok for a 5 year old, but may be an issue in a few years), 3)reasonable but not excellent legibility of clock. She loves it... She plays a book on CD before bed each night, and puts it to good use.
Summary: I wanted something to listen to in my sewing room that would provide music plus time 24/7 and not be really expensive. We don't get much on the radio, at least what I want to hear, so I wanted to be able to play my own CD music. However, I found that even better, I can plug in my MP3 player and have my music all day! The volume control is positioned rather far back from the front, but that is my only complaint.
Summary: It is a very good CD player and radio. My son is 10 y/o and he listens to audio books. The sound is clear. Large buttons and easy to use. Two things that can make it really great: headphone jack and an instruction page. I'm happy Sony thinks its customers are smart, but it is necessary.
