Summary: Was looking for a radio alarm clock and liked the idea of how it gently wakes you up. Radio worked great and liked the realistic nature sounds, especially the bird chirp. While I didn't notice much of an effect in the morning with the gradual light, I really liked the adjustable brightness that made this alarm clock serve as my bedside table lamp too.
Summary: This clock definitely has more features than I imagined it would and it has a very modern look which I really like. It allows me to wake up without feeling so cranky which is the greatest benefit for me :-)
Summary: Definitely "eases" you out of sleep instead of jolting you awake. I am the complete opposite of "morning person" - I have an average of 7 traditional beeping alarms on my phone over the course of an hour an a half to ease me awake, but am always snoozing. The first week with this wake-up light, I noticed a difference right away and felt more awake by the time the noise was at the level I wanted to be awake at.
Summary: I am NOT a morning person and do not ever want to get out of bed. I take depression meds and definitely do better in the summer when there is more light which is why I decided to purchase this "alarm" clock despite the cost which I feel is expensive. I am retired so there really is no need for me to have an alarm but if I don't I will sleep until 10 am. I have it set for 7:30 am and find I am out of bed by 8 am. I am more motivated throughout the day.
Summary: Really is a nice way to wake-up. Probably even nicer in the winter when sunshine is limited. Directions are a bit complicated, and I'm still working on the going to sleep alarm, but I have figured out the morning alarm.
Summary: It's a little expensive, but for me it works and is well worth the price. I don't like being startled awake by traditional alarm clocks and I was having trouble getting up in the morning. This works much better for me and seems to help with the adjustment to daylight savings time also. I have it set to a 30 minute wake-up cycle and I usually wake up naturally just a few minutes before the sound starts.
Summary: I think this light is working to help me wake up in the morning. I have it set to 3/4 full brightness and the sounds to birds at less than 1/4 max volume. If I get enough rest I usually wake up a few minutes before the birds start. The first one died so I returned it and got a new one.
Pros: takes the edge off waking on dark mornings light and volume settings are adjustable
Cons: first one broke after 3 months i don't like the alarm controls
I wish I could tweak a few things about this clock
9 January 2014
Summary: Let me state that everything on this clock worked as advertised. It is also a very sleek looking and well made clock. I was left with no questions about quality. It is always prudent to use a back-up alarm when trying out a new alarm clock. Fortunately, I had the forethought to set my normal alarm while testing this clock out. The first morning, I was awoken by my original alarm clock, which I had set for 2 minutes after the Philips clock was set to go off.
Pros: wave soundscape nice and soothing dimmest setting 4 clock is perfect clck brightness auto adjusts to amt of light in rm
Cons: kind of large footprint on nightstand for a clock at full brightness not quite as bright as i would
Summary: Well, it doesn't replace coffee... But it seems to do as it claims... that is, gradually colored LED lights come on (time selectable over 20 to 40 minutes, as well as intensity) then the alarm of choice goes off (volume selectable, 5 sounds + radio). There are settings for 2 wake-up times. That's about it, a clock radio. What's funky is the shape.... round. Resembles an old car headlight. Tends to roll when you smack it, as the flat side is too small.
Pros: seems to help wake-up in winter as claimed.
Cons: round shape rolls easy. no backup battery for settings + time. light button too small for general use as a lamp.
