Summary: The "wake up to light naturally" idea is nice, but this is not a product that does it well. I've given it a week to try to make sure I have set the alarm correctly based off the instructions, but it's simply not work the price tag. I will be returning this. It may make an alright mood-light for a room, but not for an alarm. You have to leave it on the highest brighness before you set the alarm, then turn the light off for it to wake up up on the brightest setting.
Summary: I REALLY want this to be a solution for me. I admit I like waking up to light, but it doesn't magically help me in any way. If I'm tired, I'll still sleep through it. It makes a lovely getting sleepy light as I'm getting ready for bed at night. I'm not in love with the chirping bird or alarm options. Don't love that the alarm doesn't automatically reset like my previous dinosaur of an alarm.
I wish I could tweak a few things about this clock
9 January 2014
Summary: Let me state that everything on this clock worked as advertised. It is also a very sleek looking and well made clock. I was left with no questions about quality. It is always prudent to use a back-up alarm when trying out a new alarm clock. Fortunately, I had the forethought to set my normal alarm while testing this clock out. The first morning, I was awoken by my original alarm clock, which I had set for 2 minutes after the Philips clock was set to go off.
Pros: wave soundscape nice and soothing dimmest setting 4 clock is perfect clck brightness auto adjusts to amt of light in rm
Cons: kind of large footprint on nightstand for a clock at full brightness not quite as bright as i would
Summary: First - 2 complaints about the alarm clock function itself. It's way too easy to shut the alarm off by accident and there's no "weekend" mode so it won't go off on weekends so you can sleep in. Second - I'm sure this works great for plenty of people, but I just found it to be annoying. Once it got bright enough to wake me up, I would instinctively put my head under the covers. Kinda defeats the purpose!
Pros: very pleasing light source
Cons: didn't wake me up no weekend shut-off feature pet hair and dust were highly attracted to it
Summary: I am not a morning person (at all), so I was excited to try this alarm clock. It works as promised, with a warm, yellowish, gradual glow waking you up in the morning over 30 minutes. It is relatively easy to program, though I did actually read the directions. In the morning the gradual lighting of the room is really nice and does help you wake up slightly easier, maybe even happier.
Summary: Well, it doesn't replace coffee... But it seems to do as it claims... that is, gradually colored LED lights come on (time selectable over 20 to 40 minutes, as well as intensity) then the alarm of choice goes off (volume selectable, 5 sounds + radio). There are settings for 2 wake-up times. That's about it, a clock radio. What's funky is the shape.... round. Resembles an old car headlight. Tends to roll when you smack it, as the flat side is too small.
Pros: seems to help wake-up in winter as claimed.
Cons: round shape rolls easy. no backup battery for settings + time. light button too small for general use as a lamp.
Summary: This is cumbersome to handle so would not be good for younger or older people. It has a nice soft glow to light and is very easy to read the clock. The radio has very good sound as well and reception but the overall look is not very nice. The alarm light and bird sounds are just ok. I was looking forward to trying this and gave it plenty of time but was disappointed.
