  • Conclusion: The first phone with an e-ink back shows why there should be more: the e-ink screen is a great way to read books or keep information for later reference.
  • Pros: First phone with an e-ink secondary screen. Solidly built. Very good voice quality.
  • Cons: Not sold in U.S. No Kindle or Nook e-ink support. E-ink touch area is unreliable. Camera is awkwardly placed.

Review Yota Devices Yotaphone Smartphone

12 February 2014
  • Summary: More displays. The Yotaphone has been in the headlines for a while now, because it has one unique feature. Turn the smartphone around and you can see a second display, a so-called E-Ink display. Our review shows how the Russian company "Yota Devices" solved this design challenge.
  • Pros: Two displays, High brightness of the main screen, Overall performance, Good camera performance, The performance of the SoC is on a high level and is sufficient for all tasks. Latest 3D games and Full HD videos are no problem for the Yotaphone.
  • Cons: Price, High energy consumption, Unstable WLAN, Temperatures under load, Design, The battery runtimes are meager and you cannot replace the battery either. The problem with the WLAN connection is annoying and there is still no statement from the manufacturer if and when there will be an update.

Yota YotaPhone Review: In Depth

19 January 2014
  • Conclusion: As much as we love what Yota Devices has gone for with the dual screen concept, the YotaPhone fails first and foremost at being a decent phone. It’s blocky, uncomfortable, hard to use and the specs are underwhelming considering the price.
  • Pros: Novel dual-screen design, Great battery life, Always-on e-ink display
  • Cons: Uncomfortable to hold, Tricky gesture-driven interface, Average performance

18 July 2014
  • Conclusion: Although the Yotaphone offers some unique design features and feels sturdy, we think that what makes it original also makes it somewhat style over substance.
  • Pros: Unique design with always on e-ink display, lightweight, responsive.
  • Cons: Bulky, odd shaped design, pricey, no expandable storage, awkward power switch.

YotaPhone review

3 January 2014
  • Summary: In the vast and ever-growing ocean of Android smartphones, it’s all too easy for devices to get lost in the stormy sea of competition, which is why we like to see manufacturers try something a little different.

YotaPhone: две стороны одного смартфона

3 January 2014
  • Summary: Производителей, способных удивить мир новым изобретением, совсем немного.
