Conclusion: The Toshiba TG01 has the potential to be a great phone, but it is hobbled by Windows Mobile and the sluggish interface. All the right ingredients are there - large touchscreen, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and GPS - but something's wrong. Hopefully Microsoft develops a better interface soon or Toshiba uses Android, either way, something has to change.
Summary: The Toshiba TG01 looks like it should take the fight to the smartphone big boys, unfortunately it's let down by some basic flaws. Shame, we were looking forward to seeing that Snapdragon at work. Not the iPhone killer we were hoping for.
Conclusion: Overall the TG01 from Toshiba is a solid offering however yet again falls short of the unbelievably high standard of the iPhone and it unfortunately will fall into the category of failed iPhone contender which is a shame because the TG01 does offer a number of great feature and applications which would give certain elements of the iPhone a real run for its money however the overall experience falls short and the phone does come with a high price tag and high expectations...
Conclusion: It´s obvious that brute force is not a guarantee for product quality even if this happens to be a high-end smartphone. Yes, 3D games run smoothly on the 1GHz Snapdragon chipset and watching movies on the huge 4.1-inch screen feels awesome, but these are pretty much all advantages of the phone. We cannot turn a blind eye on the discomfort we felt while using the handset due to its bulky size.
Pros: Screen that is suitable for video playback in the utmost degree, Ultra-fast 1 GHz Snapdragon chipset, Integrated CorePlayer
Cons: Mediocre performance as an actual phone, Nothing new under the Sun, Home screen with unappealing design, Camera that is good for nothing, Battery doesn’t last long enough
