The T-Mobile MDA Vario II is a highly acclaimed Pocket PC from T-Mobile and is strikingly similar to HTC’s TyTN. But what really sets this handset apart is the HSDPA, which allows users to access the internet at extreme speeds. It sports a touch-sensitive screen and a convenient slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The unit runs Windows Mobile and hosts a wide array of features including email for POP3, IMAP and push accounts, Microsoft Office applications, a PDF viewer and Internet Explorer for browsing the internet. The handset is also equipped with a 2-megapixel camera which also acts as a camcorder. Dedicated controls complement the camera allowing quick access to a viewfinder and a large number of settings and customizations.

The Vario II is a highly suitable option for anybody, business user or not. If you’re a music lover, you’ll enjoy the integrated Windows Media Player which can playback a multitude of media formats and with great quality. The Vario also supports full Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity; so you can share your files and watch streaming videos as well. As a stand-alone cell phone, the handset certainly doesn’t disappoint with good call quality and signal reception. Email and messaging are also very smooth and will keep you organized when you’re on the road. Battery life is satisfactory with a good four hours of talktime but extensive use of the internet can drain it faster. Overall, the Vario is one of the most advanced Pocket PCs in the market today. Even if you’re not a big fan of its regular features, the ultra-fast HSDPA alone is worth your consideration.
