T-Mobile G2 Review

Brighthand
22 November 2010
  • Summary: The T-Mobile G2  is by far the best smartphone I have used. I am still constantly picking it up and playing with it just because it is a joy to use. Everything is quick, and the battery lasts long enough that I don't need to worry about it. It works well in all areas, and should be quick to receive operating system updates like the upcoming Gingerbread due to its stock Android OS.
  • Pros: Excellent design, Fast processor, ample memory, Keyboard mostly well laid out
  • Cons: No dedicated number row in keyboard,, Not as thin as many devices, Long-term use of Z Hinge unknown

T-Mobile G2

LAPTOP Magazine
18 October 2010
  • Summary: The $199 T-Mobile G2 definitely does Android proud. It combines a mostly solid design with fast overall performance and zippy data speeds (where available). We're not sure the up-and-over design for the keyboard was necessary, but T-Mobile subscribers looking for a fast and stylish QWERTY phone will find the G2 a solid successor to the original Google phone.
  • Pros: Snappy performer, Spacious keyboard, Fast HSPA+ data, Excellent call quality, Long battery life
  • Cons: Comes pre-loaded with several apps that can't be removed, Hinge design raises durability concerns, Tethering disabled

T-Mobile G2

  • Conclusion: The T-Mobile G2 by HTC is undeniably the best Android smartphone with a keyboard on that network. In fact, it's one of the best keyboarded Android phones among all carriers. If you're looking for a high end Android phone that's fast, handsomely made (aside from the loosey-goosey hinge design) and has 4G data speeds, the G2 is your answer on T-Mobile. Would we pick it over the also excellent Samsung Vibrant?
  • Pros: Extremely fast, large hardware keyboard, latest Android OS with Flash video., Extremely fast, large and excellent hardware keyboard, latest Android OS with Flash video. Sharp display, solid GPS.
  • Cons: A bit heavy, odd hinge mechanism may bother some, tethering feature is removed., A bit heavy, odd hinge mechanism may bother some, WiFi hotspot tethering feature is removed. Where is that 4 gigs of internal storage-- gone to prevent rooting the phone. Speakerphone isn't good.
