Good product, but not so good seller.
5 January 2015
Summary: The product is great, except for the need of using a screen protector since the phone comes with an already installed one that is very scratchable, if you remove it, the Sony logo will come with it. As for the seller, the product was shipped to me somewhat in a bad condition, the box was kind of dirty giving the impression of a used product, when I open it, it came with a europe charger and an adapter for the American electric current plug which fits loose and sometimes...
This phone is a good phone, but I don't like companies who advertise ...

Summary: Not water proof! It says it is, but I can confirm it's not (see picture). I did put it through the paces and actually took it in the water, but nothing out side it's advertised capability. This phone is a good phone, but I don't like companies who advertise something they don't back up. I contacted Sony and they told me that water damage was not covered under the warranty.
Summary: I've had the phone for three weeks and constantly have problems with bugs in the Sony software. The photo viewer app corrupts photos and duplicates them, it wasn't until recently an update has fixed this. The pc companion software keeps breaking when Sony release an update so it cannot be used at all. It currently won't detect the phone so I am unable to do a backup or restore my corrupt photos.
Summary: At first i thought it was all good, but then things started going wrong, the front camera stopped working and still doesnt work, the back camera is rubbish, when im in calls the proximity sensor (being on the far side) doesnt turn the screen off every time and when i finish the call i have a lot of applications open. Once i almost checked in and posted pictures in facebook while making a call. It also does this when its in my pocket.
Summary: On paper this phone is great. The reason im going to sell it is because the camera is useless. Every time I capture that special moment the camera just freezes and have to go out of camera and back in but you loose the picture you have just taken. I was so hoping this phone to be special as I have used Samsung phones for years now. Looks like ill be going back to Samsung after all!
Powerful small handset badly let down by easily scratched glass
6 September 2014
Summary: I chose this phone because I don't like the current trend towards larger handsets, and this was the only 'compact' handset that hadn't compromised on processor speed and memory capacity. And as far as that goes, the decision was a good one - it's a nice powerful handset that never seems to lag or hesitate when I'm using it. BUT, and it's a big but, I am massively disappointed by how easily this handset picks up scratches on the glass.
Lots of disappointing niggles once you start using the Sony specific software

Summary: After owning a Samsung S3 which was accidentally damaged beyond repair I thought I'd try the Z1 Compact due to its convenient size, water resistance and competitive price. I've had it for about 3 months now. The battery life is much better than the S3 and goes for two days with good usage before needing a charge. Where it falls down for me is on the software front.
Summary: The phone works very well. I must say it is efficient, fast, reliable, easy to use, but the camera is really disappointing. I used to have the Xperia Arc and the camera was a lot better. The Xperia Z1 camera loose a lot of details and the colours are faded. I'm so disappointed. I can't believe that instead of improving the cameras they are going backwards. Now I don't think I want to use it for my holiday pictures.
Excerpt: " In the last two weeks I've had 2 of these phones. I have got an experia S which I bought from QVC thought I would up grade to this one with the capacity to use a SD card to give it more memory. The first phone arrived thought great it's a bit smaller than the one I've got so quite pleased with the look of it. I put all the apps on it as I've got on my phone. Joined Macafee security thought I was doing ok.
Summary: No, it's not ok at all. The whole reason I purchased this phone was for its supposedly excellent 20.1 megapixel camera. Initially everything was fine but then after a few weeks use, to my horror, I repeatedly get the above mentioned error message when the camera app crashes - this is completely unacceptable on a device costing 450GBP. Sometimes the camera produces stunning shots but more often they are no better than my old 2.1 megapixel SonyEricsson K530i.
