Sony Xperia V review: Bond’s wetsuit

GSM Arena
29 January 2013
  • Conclusion: We're obviously reviewing the Xperia V at a time when the eyes of the Sony faithful are set elsewhere. It's been a year since the Japanese went solo and, although they've blown hot and cold thus far, they seem to have found their pace. With a couple of full-HD five-inchers, Sony is ahead of some of their top rivals. Not bad for a year's work. And what about the Xperia V?
  • Pros: Quad-band GSM /GPRS/EDGE support, 3G with 42.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, LTE Cat3 DL 100 Mbps UL 50 Mbps, 4.3" 16M-color capacitive LED-backlit Reality LCD touchscreen of 720p resolution (720 x 1280 pixels) with Sony Mobile BRAVIA engine 2; Scratch-resistant glass, Android OS v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean coming up, IP57 certified for dust and water resistance, up to 1 meter immersion for 30 minutes, Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait CPU, 1 GB RAM, Adreno 225 GPU,...
  • Cons: No JellyBean at launch, Relatively modest battery capacity, Video recording fails to impress, No hardware shutter key, Comes across as overpriced

Hands on: Sony Xperia V “Bond phone”

4 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Despite not riding the Android wave as Samsung has done with its Galaxy phones, Sony still has some of the best designs around with its Xperia line. Its new James Bond phone, the Xperia V, is one example. It’s a followup to the Xperia arc S , which is sort of a stylish mid-range model stuffed with goodies. In the same way, the new Xperia V packs a quite impressive 13-meg camera and waterproof capabilities.

Sony Xperia V

8 August 2013
  • Conclusion: The specs and waterproofing of the Xperia V make it very difficult to fault this phone. We might mention that Sony includes the Android navigation buttons (Back, Home and Running apps) in the screen itself, effectively eating into the 4.3" screen real estate on offer; or that the 13 megapixel camera’s lens is not as wide as we would have liked (it is fast at f2.4 though). But for now we think the Sony Xperia V is one of the best midrange phones on the market.

Sony Xperia V

23 May 2014
  • Pros: 4G gir rask nedlasting
  • Cons: Litt brysomt med luker over tilkoblingspluggene

Videoreview: Sony Xperia V

3 March 2014

  • Cons: ..maar GPU is niet krachtig;, Accu is matig;, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich;, Te duur, op het moment van schrijven 450 euro;
