Do not use with Straight Talk

E. Webb, Amazon
23 June 2014
  • Summary: I really like the physical phone and its features! That said, I do not like the inadequate 512 MB RAM. I pursued a Sony Xperia product because they use a high speed processor - which this product has - however without adequate RAM it is best used as a music player and paper weight. Unrelated to the phone itself, I am unable to download group text conversations and picture messages. I have called both parties (Straight Talk and SONY) and they blame the other.

Good concept, bad phone

geohio, Amazon
19 June 2013
  • Summary: I bought this phone primarily because it was advertised as being waterproof and drop-proof. Unfortunately, I can tell you that the phone is not waterproof. My cat decided to take a partial dump on the phone and I ran it under a slow stream of water to wash it clean but it ruined the call volume such that I can't understand callers unless the room provides complete silence. If the phone can't deliver the primary points of sell, i.e.

Not as rugged as expected

M, Amazon
2 December 2012
  • Summary: Initially pleased until dropped on the floor, then disappointed by significant damage resulting from a three foot fall as well as Sony customer service. Like the idea of a nice looking rugged phone but this phone definitely does not live up to expectations. Would not recommend.

Did not work with AT&T, and is painfully outdated

R. Lewis, Amazon
28 November 2012
  • Summary: I really loved my first Sony phone - the W810i, which is like the Windows Millennium Edition of phones. It was the only model at the time that didn't have A2DP Bluetooth Streaming Audio, but I liked everything else about it, so I kept it. Fast forward four years and I finally upgraded to another Sony - the Xperia Mini Pro. It was great for about three months then the keyboard died.

You get what you pay for

Jubee P., Amazon
28 November 2012
  • Summary: I chose this phone due to its price, android platform and also due to the fact that it's water resist. Since I work around water equipment and irrigation it's a great convenience to have. Even for those days at the beach. Don't have to hide it in a towel!! The issue I have with it is that it doesn't pack a very powerful processor and not very much RAM so it can get very sluggish after you've started to run a few apps.

Not a bad phone

V. Emery, Amazon
24 February 2014
  • Summary: Problems experienced from the start, with this BRAND NEW phone switching itself off, and display a little hard to read occasionally, maybe due to water damage, because the idiot delivery driver left it in the garden, in the pouring rain. The only real criticism I have is the charge socket and lead, because a teenager had this phone it is now damaged beyond repair, as the "plug" on the charge lead is a different shape to the actual socket and it's unclear which side up it...

Very poor sound quality on calls

martin evans, Amazon
12 November 2013
  • Summary: Having bought the phone we were forced to ditch it as it was extremely difficult hear conversations on it. Whether it is the aerial (we live in a poorish reception area) or just the phone itself was not clear.

User Review

TheInsanity1234, Cnet.co.uk
26 October 2013
  • Summary: As I said above, the phone can be very slow, and certain things it does drive me nuts, such as the fact that every time I exit Facebook, the phone will open the camera app, then if I press the back button, the phone opens Google Chrome, so I press the back button again, and it opens the camera app, and it results in this cycle many times. I have to press the home button to get out of it. Also, it is fantastically prone to freezing.
  • Pros: It is actually waterproof. I accidentally dropped it into a (clean, luckily) toilet, and I've dropped it into a river, and it works still.
  • Cons: It can be incredibly slow at times, especially opening the camera app and Google Chrome.

Annoying

Anonymous, Optus
24 July 2013
  • Excerpt: I've had no problems with it's toughness and it does work with wet hands, however it's slow and the camera is awful.
