Summary: The Sony Ericsson Z610i is easy to use and has a great music player and impressive battery life, but despite the stylish mirrored finish on the front we weren't overly taken with its chunky and rather awkward design
Pros: Great music features; good battery life; easy to use.
Sony Ericsson Z610: a 3G clamshell with a 2-megapixel camera
1 April 2009
Excerpt: Sony Ericsson has officially announced its Z610 phone. This is a 3G phone peculiar with its design. It involves mirror dressing and a hidden external LCD. It is made under OLED technology, which agrees with the mirror surface of the front panel.
Excerpt: Sony Ericsson may have made big headlines with their slim 'Ai' concept phone, but the current line up of phones seem entirely oblivious to the success of the slim RAZRs. The Z series of mostly women-oriented phones continue putting on pounds with the new Z610i. As mentioned before, the Z610i is a pretty thick 2cm phone that I didn't feel like carrying around in my trouser pockets. Even in the hand, it felt quite bulky. The phone is also considerably heavy at 110gm.
Summary: Ever since the joint venture, more and more Sony lifestyle technologies have been making their way into Sony Ericsson mobile phones; prime examples being the Cyber-shot K800i and the Walkman W850i. However, while these phones have powerful features, they've never made as deep an impact in the consumer markets as they should have. Considering that they target the younger crowd, partial blame can be placed on their business-like designs.
