The Sony Ericsson W508 is the first Walkman flip since the Sony Ericsson W980 and the two have a lot in common. It's sure welcome that the new Walkman midranger almost matches the specs of the high-end W980 that was released almost a year ago. Sony Ericsson W980 While the W508 doesn't have the roomy 8 GB internal storage of its spiritual forefather, it supports M2 cards of up to 16 GB, giving it even more storage potential as the W980 doesn't even have a card slot. The Sony Ericsson W508 doesn’t bring anything new to the table with its moderately strong vibro alert, a bit too loud ring tones and decent call quality. The phone is set to arrive some time in April at the price point of 250 Euro, which may seem like a bargain until you take the Sony Ericsson W910 (220 Euro) and W595 (220 Euro) into consideration. Sony Ericsson’s latest Walkman phone is the clamshell W508a. It doesn’t offer too much to get excited about, but this is a solid, mid-range HSDPA mobile phone with an excellent display. The Sony Ericsson W508a is a flip handset and this is certainly something of a rarity — most of Sony Ericsson’s handsets are candy bar or slider phones, with the exception of a select few such as the and the . The Sony Ericsson W508 is a really cool looking flip phone. It is generally quite basic in terms of its applications and functionality, but makes up for it with the awesome music player. If you like flip moden phones, and are looking for a walkman phone, then this is a good buy. Read more

I've had this "upgrade" less than a week. It's very fiddly to use and requires constant changing of screens to do anything. The txt letters ate tiny and ( so far ) I've been unable to change them. There is no real ring tone ( only songs- and they're crap) and worst it CANNOT hold a charge. Light-normal use and the battery's flat with 24 hours. DON'T BUY ONE! You have been advised. Read more

Having just brought the W508 I find it is a nice looking phone about the right size for the hand, nice screen, touch buttons average, BIG PROBLEM the texting is too small, I wear glasses & on large font I still have trouble reading incoming texts, it's still too small, any ideas how to enlarge the text fonts would be appreciated, only other alternative. Return the phone for another one with better font controls even if it means changing brands. Sorry Sony. Read more
