It also comes with a media player. Sony Ericsson notes on its IDOU website that the name for this handset may be subject to change when it is officially launched. Showcased at the Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson’s IDOU is far from complete, the phone has VGA-resolution resistive touchscreen, instead of a capative one, Symbian Foundation OS, a sliding lens cover, and an onboard suite of photo-editing applications that allow users to tweak shots on-device. The touchscreen is used for spot-focus selection and Sony Ericsson’s Walkman-style media application with support for the Bluetooth A2DP wireless stereo profile.
The IDOU features a UI touch interface on the 640 x 360 screen, with the ability to move between applications registering almost no lag at all. It has features that allow users to set different panels at the top of the home screen, and swiping left and right navigates to pictures and contacts. The contacts can be customised to allow users to quickly view favourites. The home screen will also always keep a part of the media player open as well, enabling music or video playback while answering a call on the phone. The phone will use an M2 Memory card to offer expansion. The IDOU will also feature PlayNow TM and the MediaGoTM software which will allow users to sync between devices on a home server.
