The smartphone trying to compete with apple

samipoyo, Ciao
10 June 2008
  • Excerpt: "...series of smart phone by sony ericcson it was only right for me to buy the next installment, the P1i. All the features that made the predecessors great still remain; the solid menu and user interface, the mixture of work based utilities (word, excel, powerpoint, pdf reader) but with a now fully fixed qwerty keyboard so a reduced screen size that made it so recognizable and many other competitors doing the all in one touch screen mobile and some doing ...
  • Pros: Tried and tested software and build
  • Cons: Better options availbile

  • Summary: This phone, on the surface, would appear to have everything, yet it often does a good job of disguising this fact. The control system is clunky, interchanging between the various methods of input - keyboard, jog-wheel, and touchscreen - seemingly at random; while the keyboard has been criticised for its peculiar rocker arrangement, though, it works quite well given some practice (and a lot of patience!
  • Pros: The phone is everything I want
  • Cons: UIQ 3.0 control system is clunky

  • Summary: The phone is ok. But the jog dial started malfunctioning after 5 months. Checked with a local service center who said it will not be covered under warranty. There certainly is a manufacturing problem. Beware!( you have similar problems expressed on the net.
  • Pros: good phone
  • Cons: Jog dial

  • Summary: nice phone in smaller package than P910i. However, handsfree speaker volume is too low for use in a car. This is a common problem with most SE phones. If running GPS navigator software --impossible to hear. --Will not buy another SE because of this.
  • Pros: Built in GPS
  • Cons: speaker volume too low (handsfree) camera quality

  • Summary: Even without talking, not lasting for more than 4 hour in idle condition after full charge. What the SE's QA / QC dept is doing in china. I bought this in singapore on last week. My SE K800i battery is very strong. This was also made in china. But compare to that the battery of the p1i is completly a crab. I always buy Sony products. But this phone change my mind set. Since still under warranty, let me go and change the battery.
  • Pros: business card scanner
  • Cons: very very poor battery.

  • Summary: At the time of this review, i've had my P1i a week or so, and had chance to explore the features. Whilst i am - on the whole - impressed, I can't help but feel navigating will take some getting used to, and in the back of my mind i'll always have a hankering for the ease-of-use of my previous phone, the W550i.
  • Pros: Big screen, good camera
  • Cons: Long-winded navigation and menu systems

  • Summary: i like most features of the phone. i dont like the idea behind the keyboard, the normal phone keys would work just fine or may b on separate layer or something. the worst that i experienced is thaat my SMS received time is inaccurate. the problem is relate to its "location" setting. it doesnt work as it should. i think its a software error. i have contacted SE support centre, till now no solution. quite disappointing...
  • Pros: the sleek design, 3.2 camera with flash, crisp touchscreen & handwriting recognition.
  • Cons: not user friendly keyboard & "location" errorthat cause my time wrong & SMS received time error as well.

P1i: feature-packed business phone

shimmyjim..., Ciao
23 August 2007
  • Excerpt: "The P1i is a smarthphone packed with features. It operates on 3G and uses a touch screen. Right from the off this phone caters to business heads. With Wifi, it lets you connect directly to wireless networks and the twin cameras let you make the most of 3G video calling. The camera is impressive and is 3.2megapixel with a great flash. One interesting feature is the business card scanner, which lets you take a picture of a business card and it grabs ...

Sony ericsson P1i

trance-pr..., Ciao
12 June 2007
  • Excerpt: "...thing to note on the Sony Ericsson P1i is the large 2.6" 240x320 pixel TFT display - this is now a transflective panel which means that it can be read more easily outdoors. The Sony Ericsson P1 is a 3G Symbian smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard which can be regarded as a replacement for the troubled Sony Ericsson P990i On the back it has a 3.2 megapixel (yes a 3.2) with auto focus and flash. it has a 160mb internal memory and can be replaced ...
  • Pros: 3 . 2 mega pixel and is different
  • Cons: Bit larger than any other phone

Sony Ericsson un po' old style

pierandrea_formusa, Ciao
15 April 2011
  • Pros: tastierina QWERTY
  • Cons: design poco morbido
