The M600i comes with an army of business-friendly features including SmartOffice, which is essential for viewing and editing Microsoft Office documents, a PDF viewer, email with full support for Microsoft Exchange, POP3 and IMAP accounts, a speakerphone and a powerful RSS reader. There’s also the Opera browser but the phone unfortunately lacks Wi-Fi since it supports UMTS. Another disappointment is the lack of a camera, which leaves the overall multimedia value diminished. However, a media player is included that supports many types of audio and video including Real Player formats. But without a camera, users will have to upload media for playback.
Test runs by a number of critics have produced highly favorable results. According to CNET, the call quality was so good that it almost equals that of a landline. Voices sound exceptionally clear and the speakerphone produces equally outstanding results. The interface lacks finesse, however, as the phone tends to crash when switching applications or multitasking. While this doesn’t happen too often, lags are noticed more frequently. Battery life is excellent at 5 hours of talktime and 10 days of standby. The phone also excels in productivity with the Opera browser and other office-friendly tools delivering on their promises. In conclusion, the brilliant overall performance and the impressive feature set indicate that the M600i is a solid contender in the smart phone game.
