Summary: This is my third Tm717 Sony Ericsson (they appeal to me, but, I have a problem with getting them wet). My issue with the last purchase was, I bought a "New" phone through Amazon. The phone looked good but the box and contents had obviously been disturbed. Since my history with Amazon was good I started using the phone, but soon discovered that the graphics on the outside of the flip lid were not working.
Excerpt: I got this phone when my Razor took a swim. Worst purchase I've made in a while. This phone is not comfortable to use at all. It sometimes dies mid conversation. I've had it replaced and still have the same problem. The things I dislike about it most are that you cannot hear it ring even with the volume all the way up (but the voice on the other end of the line could burst your eardrum if you have the volume at over 3 bars) and you cannot hear or feel this phone...
Summary: Have now had 3 of these phones... love the idea of the phone. Hate the phone. SOOO buggy. My latest one would randomly stop recognizing the SIM card and would stop functioning... in the middle of calls, texts and sometimes just sitting on the table. My first one shut off randomly. I would take it out of my pocket/purse only to find it powered off and a series of missed texts and calls. Second one the hinge broke (after a year of use).
Summary: i decided to buy this phone because of it's features plus it looks good. but when i received it and opened the box the phone looked little old because it had wearing signs. it wasnt good as new. now the camera turns on by itself and phone becomes unlocked by itself. it seems like the phone has malfunction problem.
Cons: This phone has siginificant flaws, i.e. it will reject calls, by 3 methods: by side-bar when ringing, by magnets of case when you open to get it, and by its programmable camera, the 3rd one is the only one you can disable. Flawed!!!
Pros: It's a cell phone - that is the only pro I can think.
Cons: This phone is not user-friendly for texting. The battery does not keep a charge. I tried to exchange it for a different phone and was told I had a 3 day window to see if I liked it. I think you need longer than 3 days to see if you like a phone.
Pros: Bought this phone as a replacement to the Motorola RAZR that I had for years. Voice quality is good and reception is decent - seem to have less dropped calls.
Cons: Dim backlight that can't be adjusted. It's almost impossible to see who's calling if you're in a well lit area. Do not like texting from this phone as auto complete with T9 just doesn't work. Voice Mail messages also seem to get delayed/lost often.
