many problems

Nathalie, Phone Arena

  • Excerpt: I got it already for 6 months, but all the problems below exist since the first month: At first I had no signal, the assistance "fixed it" and now, sometimes it works very good, mostly the talking gets cut, or there’s just no signal (of course I’ve checked, only my phone has no signal), Later it started to slow down the functions Now I have a double screen! One on top of the other and sometimes even mirrored. When it works. Sometimes everything gets just blocked.

Sony Ericsson C510: Great phone when it was working

  • Summary: I had an absolute nightmare with this phone which is a real shame as I've had a couple of Sony Ericssons since Motorola don't seem to make many phones these days and have had no problems with them at all. I had this phone on an upgrade with Orange. A cracking deal, 600mins unlimited texts and 80mb internet for just £15 per month on 18 month contract.
  • Pros: Easy to use, Good charge time
  • Cons: Software glitch meant a lot of hassle

Sony Ericsson C510: A Phone

MikeBridges88, Dooyoo

  • Summary: Got this phone with an £18 a month 3 contract - read my 3 review to see what I think of this network, but I'm here to talk about the phone , not the cr*p h*le of a network that's supporting it. The phone itself is a nice size for me, just big enough to not feel like you're holding a lotus flower and not so big you feel like you're carrying your living room remotes around with you.
  • Pros: Texts well
  • Cons: Calling is rubbish

Disappointing

  • Summary: I got this phone as a replacement for the Sony Ericsson K800i. Whilst the C510 is slimmer and lighter than the K800i, it also has a 3.2 megapixel camera (but not a proper flash) and a similar keypad layout to the K800i. However the similarity ends there. The C510's camera is nowhere near as good as the camera in the K800i: the C510's photos look grainy and out of focus.

Sony Ericsson C510

STEVIE, MobileFoneReviews
5 December 2009
  • Conclusion: Had this phone for 6 months with nothing but problems with it. It keeps cutting out and developed a fault saying insert SIM all the time at random intervals. Had it repaired 4 times over a month at the Carphonewarehouse and eventually they exchanged it for a C902 which is much better. The guy in the shop said they have had loads of the C510's coming back due to this error and its costing Sony a fortune. Apparently its a software issye they can't repair! DONT buy it!

  • Summary: Good phone in many respects but let down by slow processing. Select eg messages and there will be a 2-3 second delay before it opens - this is the same with every feature - some are slower to open than others.
  • Pros: Look of phone & camera
  • Cons: poor battery life, slow processing speed
