Functional but unspectacular

  • Excerpt: "Ok im going to keep this simple (like the Z7 in fact!) if you want an all singing, all dancing mobile that can take high quality videos and photos and then send them via bluetooth then look elsewhere. If however you want a cheap mobile simply to make and receive calls and send and receive texts the Z7 is a nifty little phone. It has a big screen, scrolling wheel and flippy-uppy bit. its small and looks pretty stylish - all silver and streamlined! I've ...
  • Pros: Simple and easy to use
  • Cons: Lack of extras most mobile users are used to nowadays

My virgin review - A proud owner

honeylamb, Ciao
16 October 2003
  • Excerpt: "...the phone for you - Sony Z7. It took me ages to find a phone I liked last year when my trusty Panasonic GD57 was slowly dying. I have a real dislike for Nokia's probably because everybody including next door's dog has one. I came across this little baby and thought it was by far the best looking phone on the market and I probably still do. Some people say it's a bit fat but less than 2cm doesn't classify as fat or chunky to me! It's a perfect size ...
  • Pros: Scroll dial, easy access silent mode
  • Cons: A quiet vibrate .

Sony CMD-Z7: High built quality, excellent reception, ample screen size

michael_scholl, Dooyoo
23 September 2003
  • Summary: 1.Thanks to its ample DISPLAY dimensions (the largest in its category!), excellent graphics (has a high resolution graphic display which no Nokia has this category), display is so clear and easy to read. -Most READABLE DISPLAY in this category, 9 lines (small font), selectable display font (Nokias can't even compare , with Nokias you have only 4 lines and most Nokia models have too weak displays, that make it too difficult to read most of the times) -Small, elegant but...

Sony CMD-Z7 - My opinion on this phone

psykobob, Ciao
25 February 2003
  • Excerpt: "...public. I chose the Sony when I decided to upgrade from my old Nokia 3210 for the following reasons: I've had this phone now (SONY Z7) for about 8 months now, and I've had no major problems with it (apart from it locking up - which was fixed by cleaning the sim card). I was fed up with having problems with my old Nokia. I was told by a friend to go for a Sony as they were quite reliable. When looking to upgrade I wanted a long stand-by time ...
  • Pros: Small, got all the features you need, well built
  • Cons: Phone occasionally locks up (see opinion)

sleek, cool, and quick

rempire, Ciao
22 January 2003
  • Excerpt: "Why sony z7? It,s sleek. Can fit into anyone's pocket. What's being cute for? But not compromised when a giant hand is dialing another giant's number with a little help from it's tiny flip cover that also serves as a protection. So who needs a fascia cover? The navigation tool? Cool and quick, jog dial perfected the 5-way navigating. Not only as a unique feature of Sony but the most interesting I see with any sony phone. Why? Only Sony has it! Harmonic ...

Showroom appeal but not so good everyday

srhjohnst..., Ciao
17 January 2003
  • Excerpt: "...when I saw the new Sony Ericsson Z7 I thought it looked fantastic and had to have one. Showroom appeal for the phone is high - it looks great, fits easily in the pocket, has no ugly aerial, is a sophisticated silver colour and most importantly its not a Nokia! Initial impressions are quite encouraging too. The jog-dial on the side is quite easy to use once you practise a little, the screen is large and the ring tones are different. However, it can ...

Slightly dated but still going strong

edka, Dooyoo
25 December 2002
  • Summary: Very often advocates of this phone will focus on how pleasing the Sony Z7 is to the eye and how compact it is (the term 'credit card sized' is often quoted by shops). But I don't think this really applies anymore. Admittedly I still like the look of this phone , but with the release of a new generation of more high-tech and more compact phones (many of which have colour screens) the Sony Z7 is no longer at the cutting edge of mobile phone technology.
  • Pros: Jog Dial & Big Screen, Email, Optional Wallpaper & Ringer software
  • Cons: A bit thick, No longer supported by Sony, Weak vibrate
