Summary: This is an older phone -- I had it years ago when it was new, and it has the best reception of any phone I've ever had. My father-in-law needed good reception as he lives in a wooded area without a good signal. I ordered this phone for him, and he is completely pleased. He says the difference is like night and day. It's a basic phone, which is all he wanted.
Summary: When I recieved my phone, I had to notify the seller that the ear peice did not work. He told me that he would send me another phone. He said, "keep all the accessories and the battery," and I will send you another one. He did not want me to mail the defective phone back to him. I have waited now for almost a month. I did speak with the seller. He had a phone number on his initial confirmation e-mail to me but it has since been changed.
Excerpt: Okay, it could be that I got this phone a little late, so it may be just past its prime. But I seriously do not like this phone.
+The colors and display are vivid, I will give it that.
+The menu GUI is pretty neat, the whole cylindrical perspective thing.
-Otherwise, GUI for everything else and the font is just plain ugly.
-The half-duplex speakerphone just doesn't seem useful in any way shape or form. Way too many complaints from people I talk to on speakerphone.
Excerpt: This is the best phone around. Great signal strength, fantastic battery life, extremley dependable. I am seriously considering getting rid of my home phone and going with this phone alone. This is the phone that all other companies should pattern theirs on. This is what a cellular phone should be.
Excerpt: I don't use all the many features of the 4900, but I do use plain voice and this phone is the clearest (both directions) of any I ever used. Been a car phone user for over 18 years.
Right now you can get it for $50. Can't find a phone with better reception, even in basements.
Excerpt: When I was on Sprint a few years back, this phone was the undisputed RF King. The 4900 was a true workhorse. This phone could practically pull down a signal anywhere and was pretty much indestructible. If all you needed was a reliable phone, this was it. Sure it was a little on the bulky side, screen was a little smallish but like I said before, this phone is a true workhorse.
Excerpt: After one year of owning two Sanyo 4900 phones I'm pleased to report it is one of the highest performing longest battery life phones I've ever used. That is when it works...During the year I've owned two of these that the charging circuit malfunctioned which gave indications that the phone was being charged when it was unplugged. It would display charge complete when off and no charge had been attempted. Also it would ring rather than vibrate.
