Excerpt: The Samsung Soul U900 is a solid slider phone with an unusual touch-sensitive navigation pad that changes colour and in our opinion looks superb. But is a flashy touchpad all that the Soul offers? What we like The Soul is one of the most aesthetically pleasing slider phones around. It feels light solid and the slide mechanism is reassuringly sturdy.
Excerpt: Holding the U800 is not only a pleasure to the eyes, but also to the geek in all of us. With a full metal body it has a healthy weight to it and a solid build, something most other mobile phones lack these days.
Summary: The reception quality put up by the U800 is in line with other Samsung-branded devices. The ringtone volume is quite decent, as it can be heard in various environments. The silent alert is average strength-wise, no significant improvements have been made here, but compared to the U900, the new U800 is a wee bit louder.
The U800 is a well-rounded and well-balanced phone – it feels comfortable in the hand, packs in quite a bit of features and boasts a dazzling display.
Conclusion: The big question is „Is it worth buying a new soul? It is irrelevant whether you’ve already sold yours to the devil or haven't, because we cannot give you a definite answer. The truth is that we expected much more from the company’s new line top model. And so we were disappointed from the fact that only the design and the music player are of high quality. The heavily advertized MagicalTouch pad is not impressive at all (when compared to KF600).
Pros: Beautiful design, User-friendly, quality music player, Very good picture quality outdoors and in macro mode
Cons: Half of the navigation buttons require pressing, and the rest do not, Average sound quality
Conclusion: So there you have it – the Samsung U900 Soul in all its glory. It’s a great looking phone, its features are top-notch, it’s on sale now, and it’s surprisingly cheap, given that it’s a flagship model. It should sell by the bucket-load, and Samsung are being really aggressive with its pricing, so if you want a great priced super-cool flagship phone, go buy a Samsung Soul now !
Summary: The Samsung U800 is a re-imagining of Samsung's Soul U900 device. Instead of using the Magical Touch touchpad again, Samsung has decided to introduce an ultra-thin candybar body, which we feel is something of a nod to its thinline Ultra series of handsets. That said, thinning-down the design has reduced some of the device's specs and the U800 is not quite as high-end as its bigger (U900) brother.
Summary: O nce again Samsung hold a successful device with the U900. The first few weeks the device was available in stores, it already reached the Top 10 of most sold devices. The Samsung U900 has a stylish appearance. The 5.0 Megapixel digital camera takes excellent pictures, although in poorly lit circumstances the camera fails, resulting in blurred pictures or bleached colours. The latter is mainly due to the limited dynamic range of the image sensor.
