Best Keyboard Phone

caseydill, CNET
3 November 2013
  • Summary: I used to use the slow as dirt Stratosphere 2. Those phones break very easily. I bought a used 2, and it is great! I wish it where a bit faster, but other than that it's great. As for battery life: I text all day, email a lot, surf as needed, and stream Pandora in the car. Battery typically needs to be charged by 11pm. MUCH better than most of my friends' iCraps.
  • Pros: Great QWERTY keyboard, decent battery life, a lot of improvements since the first stratosphere
  • Cons: Sluggish at times. Some of the default settings (like how the shift button works) are just not thought out.

Strong Multiple Features Make this a Very Good Buy

  • Excerpt: I've had the Stratosphere II for a number of days and have spent quite a bit of time getting to know my new phone. Overall I think this is a good phone with many good features, with some that are even excellent. In my opinion it is its overall solid performance in many features that makes this a very good phone to use. Here are my observations: 1. Very fast set up (if you are a prior smart phone user).
  • Pros: Phone is fast good processor on 4g with good signal, Good to very good but not excellent screen, Good solid physical slider keyboard, Excellent processing speed very fast network
  • Cons: Surface is very very slippery, Volume button is only one button which can be a little sloppy

FALSE ADS/CLAIMS by SAMSUNG HECK ALL CELLPHONE Mfgs.

ricksinn1, CNET
5 August 2013
  • Summary: They claim 144 hours of stand by time, this is an out and out LIE. I charged it to full unplugged it for a minute and plugged it in to top it off and soon as soon as the lightning bold disappeared I went through and killed all apps and turned the screen off to put it on standby and then unplugged it. A couple of minutes after a 12 hour period on standby time I had 72% of my battery left.
  • Pros: Small battery fits in the phone, Actual QWERTY Keyboard
  • Cons: Small battery does not, I say again, does not. last claimed times

Not too big, not too small, just right

NewbTelecom2013zz, CNET

  • Summary: This is definitely the phone to have if someone is more comfortable with a QWERTY. The screen size is just right. Since I wear my cell phone on my belt, I can't imagine having one much bigger than this. Facial recognition is a nice feature for unlocking the phone even though it is not as secure as the PIN back-up option. It quickly transitions to different apps. The data usage also shows how much different data apps use.
  • Pros: I got it mainly because of the QWERTY, but there is enough space between the touch screen keys that I almost don't even need it. Setting data usage alerts is helpful, as is the auto interface with my home wi-fi to limit data usage.
  • Cons: Occasionally deactivates Navigation app if you switch from vertical to horizontal view after you've input an address but before it has loaded.

Total piece of junk

Hellisan, CNET
26 February 2013
  • Summary: This just seems like a cheesy, entry-level phone... Which I guess it is if it's free with your renewal, but with the prices we're paying, shouldn't we get a decent phone? We have been with Verizon for like 8 years and paying ridiculous prices the entire way through, and yet they're handing out trash like this as the upgrade phone with a renewal. Yikes.
  • Pros: big screen, attractive, fast on the internet etc.
  • Cons: screen text keys too narrow, constantly hitting the other keys to the side. Slide-out keys too short, you're constantly doing typos with the keys above and below intended key. Can't get on the wireless @ work. Ringtones and notifications ALL suck.

It rocks

joefresco, Phone Arena
17 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I'm a QWERTY side slider user. I assume if you are reading this, you are too. I upgraded from a Samsung Stratosphere (the first), before that a OG Droid, and before that, an iPhone 3G. This is the phone I always wanted. It's very fast (slightly faster than a Galaxy Nexus according to benchmarks), smooth, has reasonable battery life, has a good keyboard (5 rows even), a notification LED, and LTE.
  • Pros: Speed - Snapdragon S4, QWERTY, LTE, Android 4.0
  • Cons: Average camera, Shiny/slippery battery cover
