Sydney's Samsung Seek review
11 November 2013
Summary: The Samsung Seek is small and cute, has a great QWERTY keyboard, and was definitely made for social networking and sending text messages. I had problems with the web browser and I’ve never been a fan of the UI that the Seek and the Instinct uses. That may not be a problem for you. If not, then the fact that it comes preloaded with all the apps and shortcuts you’ll need to keep it touch with the world makes it a pretty cool little device, though I personally would prefer...

Excerpt: Even though we typically associate the touch-screen interface with smartphones and high-end feature phones, there are midrange devices that offer it as well. Take the Samsung Seek from Sprint, for example. Billed as a simple messaging phone with a social networking bent, the Seek comes with a decent touch-screen display in addition to a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It also has basic multimedia offerings like a 1.3-megapixel camera and a music player.
Summary: Up on the review block today I’ve got another Samsung phone! This one is the Seek and it’s for Boost Mobile which is a pre-paid division of Sprint that offers unlimited everything really for a single price and best of all no contracts. The Seek is a rather basic messaging centric phone really. It’s small in size and it has a 2.6” QVGA touch screen, but it’s also a slider that opens to reveal a qwerty keyboard to make messaging easier.
Pros: Small and lightweight, Easy to use, Quick interface, Sensitive touch screen, Unlimited phone plans available
Cons: Calls can be slightly muffled, Speakerphone not good, Extra pay for junk included, Camera not that good, Keys are a bit too close together, Slow internet / page loading
Conclusion: Today’s young mobile phone users center their needs on messaging and social networking, and an inexpensive QWERTY phone with an easy to use interface and full messaging and social networking is a good place to start. If you don’t need a smartphone or multimedia services tied to 3G, the Samsung Seek has all the essentials at lower monthly cost without requiring a smartphone data plan. The touch screen works very smoothly and the QWERTY keyboard is very nice.
