Excerpt: The Samsung Smiley is a budget 3G messaging phone meant for T-Mobile with a price tag of just $19.99. Samsung’s new Smiley is basically a texting phone with all the common features and a fair performance.
Summary: The Smiley does have some issues yes, but it’s a basic phone that I think people who are looking for one will be happy with. it’s simple to use, navigation is quick and easy and call quality is fairly decent.
Conclusion: The Samsung Smiley is meant to be a basic and user friendly phone that is messaging and media centric, and that’s where it excels really. It’s a decent little low cost phone for those that want to make calls and stay in touch via social networks and messaging. The keyboard is just a bit cramped, but after using it for a while I found I actually like it really. if you’re looking for a messaging phone then you can’t go wrong with the Smiley really.
Pros: Simple to use, Good call quality, Well made little phone
Cons: Poor camera picture quality, Very small and cramped keyboard, Web can be very slow to load large pages
Conclusion: Phone performance was a disappointment on the Smiley. Callers described us as “crummy” and “very garbled” but they had no problems understanding what we were saying and gave us a 7.5/10. To us they sounded OK, but voice reproduction was poor and callers sounded somewhat distant. The battery is rated at a low but still acceptable 5.5 hours of talk time and 12.5 days of standby. We can’t expect too much from the Samsung Smiley .
Pros: Good build quality, Easy to use keyboard, Nice display
