Samsung G800

  • Excerpt: Hi guys I am a big admirer of Samsung mobiles. I have already used a Samsung D600, a D500, a D410 and more going back even more. Actually the only phone I have owned other than a Samsung was the Sony Z7. This is why I’m so upset. I should hold out for the F490, but as so far it’s still not available in the US on any place. This phone is too large and vast. Its build quality and it looks good until I pick it up and feel how important it is.

  • Excerpt: IF YOU LOOKING FOR CAMERA PHONE THE G800 IS GOOD CHOICE COMPARING TO IT PRICE , THE FEATURES LIKE " FACE DETECTION" AND 3X OPTICAL ZOOM ARE MAKE THIS PHONE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM OTHER 5 MP CAMERA PHONES , ALSO IT IS VERY STYLISH PHONE SPECIALLY THE SILVER COLOR ....BUT IF YOU ARE A PERSON WHO LIKE TO HAVE MANY SOFTWARES ON HIS/HER PHONE THIS IS NOT A GOOD CHOICE , THE OPERATING SYSTEM IS NOT ADVANCED LIKE NOKIA N82 & N95 .

Samsung SGH-G800: Hardy, hefty and functional - perfect for most!

RTWJuju, Dooyoo
12 April 2010
  • Summary: I used the Samsung SGH-G800 for twelve months a year or so ago. It is a slide phone with two digital cameras registering 5mpx quality. There is one camera on the reverse of the phone (so that you can use it as a digital camera, lens out to the subject, screen to you so you can see the frame), and one on the front (obstensibly so that you can use the video call function whilst watching the other person on the screen, but also great for the myspace generation - want to...
  • Pros: Indestructable, excellent quality photos.
  • Cons: Quite large, heavy.

Samsung G800

  • Summary: Having been initially drawn to this phone due to its looks, I was soon reminded by 'don't judge a book by its cover'. The specifications looked good on paper, but I found that the phone was just not as good as it could and should have been. The interface of the phone seemed very sluggish, although the grid style menu on the phone was very bright and easy to see. The sub-menus were also very easy to navigate through also. The screen is very large and easy to see.
  • Pros: Good camera
  • Cons: Bit big

  • Summary: There isn't anything I dislike about this phone. It works well, the battery is good, the camera is ok (but not great considering that is why I bought it) I can access Facebook Mobile and other mobile sites. It just lacks a certain something to make me love it. I've had it over 18 months and I'm in no major rush to change it for something new, but when I do I'll be hitting the shops rather than ordering without having a 'play' like I did with this one.
  • Pros: It works
  • Cons: I like my Sony Ericsson K810i better

Bringing Chunky Back

rashedon89, Dooyoo

  • Summary: When I recieved my Samsung SGH-G800 I did think to myself, its just a little bit chunky, however the phone maintains the high standard of style we expect from Samsung and the 5 megapixel camera does make up for this. Before I ordered the phone I had checked up on it and noted that it is the first mobile to include optical zoom rather then digital zoom. Making picture quality better and closer to what we expect from a digital camera.
  • Pros: Excellent camera
  • Cons: Settings for the camera are complicated

  • Excerpt: "This is the only phone over 3 years which I have kept for more than 3 months. I love this phone to bits. The camera is fantastic ( 5mega pixels, defintaley "the photgraphers choice" ). It's definitely a step above the average camera phone. It's a brilliantly designed slide phone that's equipped with an MP3 player, FM radio, accelerated 3G (HSDPA), 160 Mbytes of internal memory plus a memory card slot, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. It isnt ...
  • Pros: 5 megapixel Camera, not easy to loose in your pocket ! , 5 Alarms, looks sweet

  • Summary: My cousin has purchased it and given to me as a gift. I have worked a lot in it. Even I worked with the predecessor G600. I found G600 to be better apart from other additional features. In G600, when the picture is taken after zooming, it was appreciably OK. But G800 zoomed images are magnificient, marvelous. I recommend G600 (1st 5MP camera phone ever made by samsung mobile company) if you are going for overall features. But for camera,3G etc., G800 is excellent.
  • Pros: Music Quality is Superb than Sony Ericsson Walkman Series Phones, Battery Life is more, Xenon Flash,3X Optical zoom, Stylish overall Pretty good
  • Cons: Expensive, Bulky, Moderate Build Quality,Keypad very delicate,Sometimes Slider looses the grip
