So the Rugby isn’t the greatest phone for taking pictures or videos, but that’s not really the point of this phone is it? It’s made to be a tough phone for those with an active lifestyle and/or a job that requires you to get down and dirty. This it seems it will handle very well, though since this was a loaner phone I really couldn’t put it to the test, had I been given this phone to review and keep I would have been bouncing it off the walls, letting my kids... The Samsung Rugby SGH-A837's could use a few improvements, but it remains a solid choice for a rugged, straight-forward phone with a loaded feature set. Read more
I've had the phone for nearly 3 years, and it works as well today as it did when I first pulled it out of the box. The design and build of it make it a very durable phone that can withstand being dropped onto pavement or into water. If you want a durable phone that is easy to call and text on that will also allow you to take pictures, video, and audio, this is a great phone! I love mine and will use it until it is dead. This is a very reliable, durable phone that will last probably longer than i want to have it! It does not have the smooth, user friendly inter=relation of function and each command requires another button to be pushed. In other words, it does not intuit like the newer models, but it is sturdy, won't let you down in a pinch, has a great speaker phone and stays in your hand while you are in motion. And should it slip, it isn't picked up in pieces! Read more or see product
I got this phone from AT&T after the phone I originally ordered was on back order for over a week. It was not a phone I would have picked out, but has a lot of good qualities. My only complaint, and the reason I'm returning it is the battery life, by the end of the second day the battery is dead. I don't use it for texting or e-mailing, only short calls. AT&T replaced the battery, but it only lasted 2 days again. Read more
Samsung Rugby a837 1 I bought a new Rugby phone in March 2011 and it has never really worked properly. It is always telling me it's for emergency calls only (the customer service said it should be replaced but no one is taking it back so i have to live with it). It also has a terrible antenna that makes most of my calls cut in and out all the time for no particular reason. Read more

Not Samsung nor AT&T will give me a replacement for my Rugby since I work outdoors and got caught in a rain shower. It is supposed to be built to withstand the harsh extremes, however I have only had mine since Feb. 09 and it just quit working when it got wet. Funny thing is, it had a color window in the back that showed water damage however, my local store agreed with me that there was no evidence of any components wet. Not even the battery had been wet.How can I get Samsung to stand behind their product that they themselves advertise as weather resistant? I will never purchase their products again....
