  • Conclusion: After having a lot of phones from different manufactures, I'm impressed with Samsung A717. This phone has a nice basic mp3 player. It's fast and extremely well built out of high quality materials. This Samsung I'd recommend as a great start for somebody who's either a bit older or rather young.
  • Pros: Perfect call quality, good internal display, fast connections. Excellent battery life. Many good features. Slim and sleek.
  • Cons: Rather slippery shape. No speaker unbiased voice dial. Mp3 player requires too many steps to get to what you want.

Could have been better

  • Excerpt: I purchased this phone because the Motorola RAZR V3XX was sold out at the time...and it was supposed to be the next best thing. My Cingular 8125 was acting funky, so I wanted a dedicated slim phone, versus the chunky touch-screen PDA "gotta wear a backpack to carry it" phone. Bad decision!

Quick Take.

  • Excerpt: To start off I am using this phone with a T-Mobile SIM, so I cannot comment on the 3G aspects. Design - I really like the design and size. I have large hands so it fits nicely. The shape and smooth body feels good in the hand, and has a nice discreet look. Build quality seems very good as well.

  • Excerpt: This phone is most impressive. Like most phones the style and appearance is personal opinion and I find it very appealing. I like the small front OLED display, as I would much rather have this low voltage display instead of a large color display.

Samsung A717 My New Favorite

archer6, Phone Arena

  • Excerpt: The Samsung A717 is the best flip phone I've owned. It easily out performs my RAZR V3xx. The call quality is exemplary, with warm and clear voice tones and a good range of volume adjustment. Even in weak signal areas this phone holds onto the signal and does not suffer drop outs.
