Summary: The Samsung Reality is a messaging phone and therefore performs best in that capacity. The keyboard works great and social networking integration is always a winner. Though I had problems with the web browser and would have preferred a better touchscreen, overall I think buyers will be pleased with their purchase. The great QWERTY keyboard, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and Samsung’s TouchWiz interface are enough for me.
Conclusion: The Samsung Reality U820 is a worthy competitor to the LG enV3 VX9200 , as both are mid-level QWERTY messaging phones, but the Reality adds to it a 3” touchscreen, TouchWiz 2.0 UI with widgets and 3 home screen pages, and has better integration with social networking sites. Both the call quality and reception are good and equal to that of the Samsung Rogue U960.
Pros: TouchWiz 2.0 UI, Good call quality and reception, Compact design
Cons: The HTML browser is limited and reformats pages, Camera lacks autofocus and a flash, The back is slippery
Conclusion: The Samsung Reality is not a clear replacement for the Samsung Rogue since each phone has slightly different strengths. As a new mid-tier feature phone with 3G and all of Verizon services, the Samsung Reality competes very well against rivals like the LG Rumor Touch. The phone looks solid and pocketable, and lets you enjoy any multimedia content offered by Verizon via EVDO. The camera is very decent and TouchWiz is easier to use. The web browser is behind the times.
Pros: Very good GPS performance. Camera takes good photos., Pro: Very good GPS performance. Camera takes good photos.
Cons: You won’t like the web browser if you do a lot of web surfing on your phone., Con: You won’t like the web browser if you do a lot of web surfing on your phone.
