Initially announced at the , the Samsung UltraTOUCH S8300 (also known as the Tocco Ultra Edition) is the manufacturer’s latest flagship model. Despite numerous phones were showcased at the expo, the UltraTOUCH definitely managed to attract much attention. Being an Ultra series phone, it brings along many of the advantages of other, more narrowly specialized devices in a nice and good-looking body, making it appealing to the common consumer. Read more
The Tocco isn’t broken it just doesn’t have the same level of refinement inside as it does on the outside. This is an attractive phone capable of handling many people’s needs. Our only concern is that if you’re looking for a smart phone then this isn’t it. The proprietary OS looks great and does the basics but that’s it. Read more
The Samsung S8300 is an excellent looking device with novel design and if we are to pinpoint a stand-out feature, that has to be the camera. Still photographs are among the best, videos are excellent and we were left with nothing but positive impressions of it. The rest was a mixed bag. TouchWiz is a nice touch interfaces and offers a lot of functionality. However, the hardware really struggles at times to run the software. Read more
Combining touchscreen and slider design principles, the Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition adds some extra text-tapping usability to the touch format without bloating the device. It still manages to feel comfortable to handle, and pleasing to use. Its user interface isn’t as elegantly smooth and sophisticated as the iPhone’s benchmark set-up – and like most touch devices, some elements take a little getting used to. Read more
S amsung’s on a roll with this, the Ultra Touch being the third mobile handset bearing an 8 megapixel camera lens. They’ve gone with an amalgamation of form factors with this one – it has a touchscreen like the Pixon and it’s also a slider like the INNOV8. But enough talk let’s get on with the review. Read more

Its camera is great and the screen looks amazing, but the UltraTouch is not a knockout. It's a weird mix of business looks, average apps and dodgy performance, and we just can't tell who exactly Samsung is trying to sell it to. Read more

As the flagship 2009 handset from Samsung, I expected the Tocco Ultra S8300 to be something really special. In some respects, I got it. The superb screen, fine build quality and number-pad/touchscreen combi are all big plus points. But there are a fair few niggles here too, and I expect other handsets to outshine it as the year progresses. Read more
I used to be a big fan of Samsung sliders. I owned the D500, D600, D900, and now this S8300. I think the styling of the phone is excellent. The functionality is terrible. Pros: The screen looks amazing. The touch screen sensitivity is good. Voice quality is good. The size is perfect for my pocket. Cons: The software! The phone is always doing things I don't want it to do. I use the button lock feature all the time but still I find the button volume is always changing. Read more
I'm a huge user of mobile phones, and always want newer, better and with more features. So it's shocked many people I know to find out that I've had my tocco since April 2010! But this phone is a honey. It's hard wearing (I drop it constantly) and has more features than I'll ever actually use. Features: Touch Screen - So easy to use, just touch the screen and slide around to move anything including the network logo and clock out of the way of your screen. Read more
Of all the phones i have had, this has to be the best phone as its easy to use, lots of memory, and the touchscreen was not very sensitive which i liked. The only downside is that after time, you need to buy a new battery, i've had this phone for 4 years and have plucked the courage to upgrade! I have dropped this phone, it has fallen out of my pocket, fallen in the toilet (lol) and still works perfectly!! Samsung do the best phones!! Read more
I AM USING THIS SET FROM LAST 1 YEAR, & I AM FULLY SATISFY WITH THIS SET . Read more
I like it. Lacks a smartphones sophistication: but what it does do, it does well! AWFUL battery. Read more
Sending it back! Really not user friendly. The number of steps just to set up a new text message or other simple things is rediculous. The widget is just an annoyance, and blocks the screen when you want to open a new message. A simple menu button wouldn't go ammiss either. Internet browser and photos change orientation every other second thereby stopping you actually looking at what you want, great idea but rubbish in practice. Read more
I have always had Samsung phones & using this phone is really difficult the touch screen is not as responsive as I think it should be & I don't like how the screen saver changes & you can't stop that & I haven't been able to use the GPRS as it never seems to work also I don't like the keypad as its hard to press the buttons there are far more negatives than positives! I am disappointed. Read more
