Summary: I have had this phone for almost two years. Texting on it is great but the phone will eventually not charge at all.(which is happening to me now). There is no picture messaging without internet. Ringtone will still continue to play even when keypad is locked. Sometimes the camera will not work. I have had the phone shut off on me at random times, sometimes during an important phone conversation.
Would probably not buy it again if I got a second chance

Summary: This phone was a replacement for a Katana. the only reason I got it was that it was the only phone offered for free at the time. I have only had it about 9 months and have had to replace the battery twice now AND YOU CANT FIND THEM ANYWHERE! They are always sold out on in the sprint store and no local stores carry them. I always have crappy signal which was never an issue with the Katana. I would not have bought this phone if given a second chance.
Excerpt: When i first bought the samsung rant i was thoroughly happy. It was shiny, easy to use, and great for texting. But after a month or two it started freezing and turning itself off. So I took into the Sprint store and they ordered me a new one. This processed continued over and over until they ordered my 5th one. The 5th one's screen garbled, meaning the screen colors and text would invert.
Summary: This phone starts off good, but I haven't even had it for a year and it already doesn't work. I did love it because I text a lot and it comes in handy for that, but in the process the phone froze up on me numerous times until it finally gave up on me and the screen went went black. really really sucks.
Summary: I have had the Randt now for about a year or so and have now replaced it twice and it needs to be replaced again. The camera turns on at anytime by itself and snaps a picture and also quite often I cannot answer the phone or even stop it from ringing. This phone definitely was not worth the money that I spent on it when it first came out.
Summary: My problems with the Rant are that the phone often freezes or locks up, there are all kinds of dead zones when using navigation or any other 3G services, the buttons on the front were made for the hands of 13 yr old girls, the battery life is unimpressive, the camera's shutter speed is a good 5 seconds (but still doesn't capture very good images), the speaker for both phone calls and listening to music is weak, and the phone butt dials way too often.
Excerpt: WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE OTHER THEN IF YOU TEXT ALOT. FEATURES:the lg rant is a great phone, i do not have the data plan so i couldn't tell you how internet and such goes. texting on this phone is great, it keeps up with you and types everything you intend to type, unlike the lotus.i really dont see what you can do with this phone other then texting. i wuldnt use this phone for music and its defintly not a smart phone.
Summary: My friend recently got her phone stolen and all of her friends prank-called. Hoping to prevent the same fate, I looked for an option to lock the phone with a security code when coming out of standby. (you need to press * and BACK to wake the phone up). There is no such option. ALL of the phones I have had before had this option. The only options are to lock the phone when it first turns on, or to lock it manually - navigating about 4 menus deep into the settings.
Summary: I got this phone last October (2008). It worked wonderfully until the latest "update", which happened about a month ago. The phone now gets "stuck" all of a sudden. Therefore, not allowing you to make or receive calls or do anything else on it...completely frozen!. You can't even turn it off for a couple minutes when this happens, which is the only way to reset it. Also, when the phone "updates" it erases all of your customized settings (carrousel, bubbles, etc.)..
