  • Summary: "A well built phone with a great screen...very responsive. The on/off button hasn't proved to be an issue with me. It requires a firm press of around 2 seconds to activate it.The Windows OS is a joy to use (and coming from a long time Mac user, that's got to say something!). Yes there are one or two omissions and glitches but its a new OS and if it's this good now, I look forward to future developments.

Excellent Phone, just missing front camera

Bruno, Amazon

  • Summary: I just updated the Phone software to Windows Phone 7.8 which is even better than the one that comes with it. In general the phone is awesome, it fell on the floor a few times and has now a dent in the back but still perfect in the screen with no scratches. I used it to do video skype calls, very nice... just lacks a front camera which is present in the new Samsung Ativ S. I totally recommend this phone!

  • Summary: The Omnia 7 is a great phone for the Windows 7 experience. Fantastic sized screen for movies and gaming and for the size of the phone it has a comfortable weight. The great thing with a Windows based phone is the ease of navigation; adding contacts, setting alarms, changing sounds and themes is a breeze.

Who needs an iPhone

  • Summary: I got this phone on a contract with three and everyone who I have shown it off to agrees that at £17 a month is a bargain for such a capable smart phone. The operating system is the most important thing on this device and the new mango update for windows phone 7 is a massive improvement on the previous version. The operating system offers many features found on other microsoft operating systems and devices such as office, zune, bing and Xbox live integration.

Wife got it for me, so I have to pretend it is the best phone

  • Excerpt: I have always felt that Samsung doesn't get enough credit where it is due. They always released hardware that was on par, if not slightly better, than their competition such as Sony/Sony Ericsson, but for one reason or another, they always sell their products cheaper. Maybe it is because Samsung are Korean, and Korea is synonymous with dictator Kim Jong Il to western customers (although that shouldn't be the case since Korea is split by a North and South divide), but...
  • Pros: Screen is great, very fast
  • Cons: Windows Phone 7 restrictions

Samsung Omnia 7 (i8700)- The Ultimate Windows Phone?

LiamS, Ciao

  • Excerpt: First and foremost, this is not a review of the WIndows Phone 7 Operating System- a separate review for this can be found here: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Microsoft_Windows_Mobile_7__Review_5992654 Availability On contract, this phone is available on many carriers. In the UK it is available on T Mobile, Orange and 3, but can also be purchased Sim Free for exisiting mobile customers.I believe that the handsets from UK carriers are all 8GB versions.
  • Pros: Good build quality, sharp, good - quality camera
  • Cons: No expandable storage; battery fairly weedy, far too bright LED flash
