Samsung Highnote

13 January 2009
  • Conclusion: A phone with huge potential to become a great music phone, the Samsung Highnote needs some work to get there. While most of the music, multimedia and GPS features are onboard, their performance left something to be desired. If you’re just looking for a phone plus an MP3 player, the Samsung Highnote is worth a look. But if you want great Sprint TV and GPS experiences in addition to the music, then look elsewhere.
  • Pros: Effective double slider design and good music features such as the 3.5mm audio jack, slide-out stereo speakers and included music accessories such as wired stereo headset and 1GB microSD card for storing music.
  • Cons: Weak performance on Sprint TV and GPS with Sprint Navigation. Battery life is a bit too short.

  • Conclusion: The Samsung Highnote is billed as a music phone, but it does better as a phone for the car with its loud speakerphone, GPS, and other roadworthy features.
  • Pros: Large, powerful speakerphone. Several helpful features for driving including GPS. Fun home-screen interface.
  • Cons: Dismal music software. Poor Web browser. Choppy streaming music quality.

Review: Samsung Highnote

1 December 2008
  • Conclusion: The OneClick User Interface alone will polarize customers due to its usability quirks and lag. The lack of the manufacturer user interface isn’t a deal-breaker, but We couldn’t reccomend this phone to everyone without preconditions. My advice to Sprint and Samsung: Bring back the Samsung UI, and make OneClick into a Sprint theme, which could be disabled by savvy or elderly users who are familiar/enamored with the Samsung UI.
  • Pros: Thin, loud speakers, Bluetooth, microUSB with charging cable, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Cons: Buggy, Lack of Samsung UI, lack of standard media player, poor browser.
