  • Summary: This is no smart phone, which may limit its appeal, but the Samsung Solid could fit the bill if you need a phone that can cope with dust, dirt, water and occasional drops
  • Pros: External casing; resistant to water splashes and some knocks and drops.
  • Cons: Entry-level features; no PC synchronisation; VGA camera; small screen.

Samsung Solid Extreme in-depth review -

Mobile Choice UK
12 December 2011
  • Summary: Ruggedised phones often look cheap but Samsung has given this one an almost classy finish. Simple to access menus and chunky easy-to-use rubberised buttons means the basics are well-covered. No 3G, wi-fi or GPS, but at least there's an extra microphone for noise cancellation, and even a torch.
  • Pros: Excellent shock, water and dust resistance. Funky features. Okay styling.
  • Cons: Lacks features many more basic non-ruggedised phones have, like 3G.

Samsung Solid in-depth review -

Mobile Choice UK
12 December 2011
  • Summary: As the name would suggest, the Samsung Solid looks and feels, well solid. It's also surprisingly light. The screen is disappointingly small. The close proximity of the keys proves problematic, particularly if you are wearing gloves.
  • Pros: More features and lighter than the JCB Toughphone.
  • Cons: The simplest of tasks, unlocking the keypad, is beyond annoying.

Samsung Solid Extreme Review by 3G.co.uk

3g
28 October 2010
  • Summary: It's never going to earn awards for its good looks, but the Samsung Solid Extreme's most important function is to protect itself from a clumsy owner or harsh environment. It does this very well and also offers some nifty extras.
  • Pros: Looks okay. Has some nifty features. Dust, water and shock resistance are excellent.
  • Cons: Is missing some features- such as 3G - that are found on a lot of more basic ruggedised phones.
