My First Android

nesto1, Phone Scoop
8 November 2011
  • Excerpt: Ok, so I converted from an iPhone 4 to the Skyrocket specifically cause I wanted something different and it had LTE. My LTE experience with the phone is actually pretty good. I have seen speed test of 42mb/12mb up/down. I have had no connection issues what so ever(live in the Dallas Market) I am really loving Android and so is my wife(she go the Vivid - converted froman iPhone 3GS) The Processor speed of the Skyrocket is AMAZING to say the least(compared to the I4).

Galaxy S2: leader of the pack? - from a diehard Blackberry user

The Guardian, Amazon
4 November 2011
  • Summary: Having been a Blackberry user for several years but also owning an iPod4 64G, I finally decided to replace my 2-year old Blackberry Curve with a smartphone and went for the Samsung Galaxy S2 Android, which is cheaper than the iPhone and has had generally positive reviews from users. I've been using the Samsung now for a couple of weeks.

Update RE: Does Not Support T-Mobile 3G or 4G or future 4G-LTE

The Jazzer, Amazon
4 November 2011
  • Summary: The Samsung GT-I9100 Galaxy S II does not support the T-Mobile transmission frequencies required for 4G in the USA. T-Mobile requires both 1700-MHz and 2100-MHz frequencies (1700/2100) to enable 4G uplinks and downlinks. This phone supports only quadband frequencies (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). If using T-Mobile in the United States, the maximum speed you can get from this device is 2G at 1900-MHz. Repeat: This device does not work with T-Mobile 4G in the United States.

Get it from TOP SHELF ELECTRONICS

Judy, Amazon
2 November 2011
  • Summary: I actually previously ordered the galaxy s2 from another amazon vendor but it was clearly a refurbished phone and that was not what I wanted. I was really upset not only because it was terribly refurbished, and did not come with headphones but also because it actually took 6 days to get to me. So I was phoneless for that long. However, I received it from Top shelf electronics in just 2 business days and it was new!

Epic 4G Touch- Best phone?

rex0422, Phone Arena
29 October 2011
  • Excerpt: Epic 4G Touch, the first variant of Samsung Galaxy S II in the States, is perhaps the best phone in U.S. right now. I think the overall build quality is not that great, due to its plastic construction, but it is very light weight and thin. However, I personally do not like plastic construction on phones. Also, the PHONE itself is decent- decent reception and call quality.
  • Pros: Good battery life, Nice looking display, Great performance with Samsung Exynos processor, Enthralled by its multimedia experience because of screen size and Super-AMOLED display, Nice looking design- Thin and light, UI is beautiful and fast, Still shots results are above average
  • Cons: Call quality is average at best, 1080p video can be better, Samsung's keypad is nowhere near decent, WVGA on 4.52" display just doesn't go well together, Reception can be better, Plastic construction isn't for everyone, 4G speeds are fast, but LTE blows it out of the water

except for battery life, almost impossible to hope for a better phone

Manuel Antonio Arce Arenales, Amazon
27 October 2011
  • Summary: Of all the phones I've used or tried out -including iPhone 4s- this is hands down the best of the lot. I have become a fan of Android operating systems after using extensively both an Android tablet and an iPad 2. On the average, at least for my purposes, Android provides excellent apps for a wide variety of needs at very reasonable prices. In fact, many of the best ones are actually free.

Great phone, even for the price...

C. Samel, Amazon
27 October 2011
  • Summary: First off, if money is hurting you, then look for another phone. But if you can afford to shell out $700, then the SGS2 unlocked is perhaps the only phone that can justify it. **Camera---best i've seen on a smartphone (barely beating iphone 4)... **Screen---vibrant colors on the samoled+ w/o the pixelated effects on the regular samoled. the 4.25 isn't too big or too small for my taste.
