Samsung Galaxy Mini: Good phone but depends on expectations!
18 September 2011
Summary: I have read the other reviews and I think it is worth putting this phone into perspective. I have recently got this phone as an upgrade and it is my first Android phone. Like many people I didn't use any instructions in setting up the phone and I found it very easy to set up. There is a period of adjustment when using new phones but I felt this transition was fairly simple.
Pros: Very receptive screen, great text message lay out and easy to use.
Summary: I am very impressed with this little phone, the size is just right and the good screen combined with what feels like a fast phone makes it a great device. You need to make sure your SIM / phone package allows data at a reasonable cost as first weekend out and about cost £10 extra in data charges (my fault) as it all defaults to data packet = on.

Summary: In a household that has three smart phones in it (an i-phone 4, and another touch made by samsung) I am very used to this style phone and had high expectations. I had often played with my father's i-phone 4 and I think this actually has very similar qualities. It is light and easy to handle and has many features and a simple to work with design. Very few times has it failed to work. One pleased customer.
Summary: I bought this after my HTC Desire was stolen. This is a third of the price, and yet the majority of the functions are still there. The main thing I feel I am missing is flash, which is apparently unavailable on this device, so you can't watch many video sites other than youtube unfortunately. Also a camera flash/ flashlight would have been really useful. Otherwise, the screen is quite lo-res so reading text can be hard, but this doesn't feel horrible to me.
Excerpt: "== Samsung Galaxy Mini == === Summary Of The Product === Last year Galaxy released four variants of the same phone, each with a different price tag. The mini was the cheapest of those four. Despite it's name, mini is actually an exaggeration as it's screen size is actually a nice 3.2" touchscreen. Unfortunately this budget bundle only comes with a 3 megapixel photo and video camera which is a bit of a shame when comparing it to it's bigger brothers, ...
Pros: sleek, stylish, robust, feels good in the hand, fast
Good Android phone. Great in poor mobile reception areas.
10 August 2011
Summary: I live in a city centre block which has poor mobile reception. I have had to return both a Orange San Francisco and a Samsung Genio Slide GT-B5310 phone as I was unable to make reliable voice calls on either. I have had no problems making voice calls with the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570. I'm really happy with the functionality of this phone. Getting access to Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and general internet browsing is really easy.
Conclusion: I was adament that old skool "candy bar" phones with a traditional keyboard were the best thing since sliced bread. It's not that long ago that I would rather have sawn off my own fingers than own an android phone. Recently, however, this all changed when i inadvertently dropped my aforementioned candy bar mobile down the W.C. Feeling vulnerable I popped into my local phone store and chanced my arm with the fantastic Samsung Galaxy mini and have never looked back.
