  • Excerpt: Samsung is really going stars with the quality and quantity of the number of Android Smartphones it had announced this January 2011. While phones like Samsung Galaxy S II are competing in the high end segment with iPhones and HTCs, Samsung has also been considering the mid segment of price conscious buyers. “Gio” is the Italian word for Jewel and rightfully Samsung has played one more good move with this release.

  • Conclusion: There was a slight hiss in the earpiece during . The output is loud enough so you don't have trouble hearing, but the voices are not easily discernible. The other party said they couldn't hear us very well, since our voice came hollow, and with a lot of static noise accompanying it. The is rated for 6 hours and 40 minutes of talk time with 3G mode turned on, which is a decent performance, but nothing extraordinary.

Samsung Galaxy Gio S5660 review: Average Gio

GSM Arena
6 May 2011
  • Conclusion: The Galaxy Gio is part of the new Samsung midrange along with the Ace, the Mini and the Fit. All these gadgets have a similar objective – offer the all round Android experience within budget. The Ace and the Gio are obviously cast in the same mold. No doubt the weaknesses are shared too. With dismal video recording and lack of DivX support, the Gio isn’t a media-centric device. But if you know it up front, this is an easy phone to enjoy.
  • Pros: Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA support, 3.2" 16M-color TFT capacitive touchscreen of HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) resolution, multi-touch, 800MHz ARM 11 processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset; 278MB of RAM available to the user, Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) with TouchWiz 3.0 UI, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n with Mobile Hotspot functionality, GPS with A-GPS connectivity; Digital compass, 3.2 MP autofocus camera with geo-tagging and face-detection, QVGA...
  • Cons: Poor video recording, No shutter key for the camera, No Adobe Flash support in the web browser, No ambient light sensor for auto brightness, No DivX/Xvid video support out of the box
