  • Conclusion: Employing Bang & Olufsen to create the built-in speaker was a masterstroke. Throw in bullet-speed 3G Internet skills and 3.2-megapixel camera, and you've got a great music phone with some impressive all-rounder talents in tow.
  • Pros: Like the Queen, music phones are popular but unsexy (no disrespect your Majesty). But not the stylish and elegant F400. It boasts a dual-slider action - slip it one way to reveal the keypad, slide it the other to display a front-facing speaker. Don't panic, this speaker's been engineered by the hi-fi heroes at Bang & Olufsen, and blasts out powerful, dynamic tunes without the usual distortion problems. Elsewhere, the iPod-esque scroll wheel provides easy menu navigati...
  • Cons: Although this looks stylish, it is a bit chunky around the midriff. Also there's no significant amount of integrated storage space for your music collection, so you have to fork out extra for a microSD card. That said it does support 8GB cards - so you'll be able to carry around 2,000 decent quality tracks on it.

  • Excerpt: Now, phones aren't usually my forte, but when Samsung asked if I wanted to review their new MP3 spouting mini-boom box of a phone, I couldn't really say no. The real clincher was the Bang & Olufsen speakers embedded in the phone, which appealed to the audiophile in me.

Mobile Review
26 June 2008
  • Summary: The reception quality put up by the F400 is in line with other Samsung-branded devices. The ringtone volume is quite decent, as it can be heard in various environments. The silent alert is average strength-wise, no significant improvements have been made here. Retailing for as much as 350 Euro, the F400 is not the device to look out for – it’s pretty steep and doesn’t offer any substantial advantages compared to other Samsung-branded phones, plus there is not much to...

  • Excerpt: After all the hype surrounding the groovily-monikered likes of Samsung's Soul and Tocco, it's almost a relief to get back to a more modestly-titled, almost demure little music phone like the Samsung F400.

netzwelt

COMPUTER BILD
5 April 2009
