Great old school smart phone- can't live without it
15 September 2012
Summary: Great old smart phone. I had to replace the same model since it went for a swim. For as old as this platform is it does a lot! I have used a Palm platform device for over 15 years and have lots of data backed up on my computer that I could not bear to lose. That is why I chose not to upgrade to an Android or iPhone. My only letdown is the "new" phone did not come with an SD memory card. It had the factory "non-functional" dummy card in the slot.
Summary: I bought Palm Treo 700wx (Sprint) three weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the number of features available on this inexpensive phone. It has a 1M-pixel camera, video camera, and speakerphone. The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket . My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions.
Summary: My android phone recently had to go back to samsung for warranty work and i needed a phone because I never buy insurance for them. So I thought I got a pretty good deal on the palm treo 700 on ebay. I know its outdated, but they work. It has a really loud ringer on wich is great for me but the windows on a phone? lets say there easier technology to operate now a days.
Summary: This is the second 700p I've owned; the first died when my holster (now deceased) inexplicably ejected it into the toilet. (Relax, it had been flushed, but water does what it does to electronic devices.) The screen is nice and sensitive, the telephony features are great. This one came with the Good suite of apps (messaging, voicemail, etc.), which I do NOT like, but the old ones were retained, so I just deleted the Good garbage, and the phone works fine.
Summary: Bought this phone for only $45 on ebay, it has been excellent. Solid smartphone, a little older, but works wonderfully. It does confuse me that the phone doesn't actually ever turn off completely. If you turn off the phone, that's all that happens, the phone functions are turned off, but the unit itself is still on and able to be worked on. I should probably get a copy of the user manual.
Summary: Phone is as advertised except for the new screen. The Screen is new but not sensitive like other 700P phones that I have had. The phone is still functional and in good working order. Would buy again.
Excerpt: This phone ... is amazing. I've dropped it at least 10 times (battery fell off, stylus fell off) and it still works. Freezes up sometimes, but I just take out the battery. Bam, fixed. Has lots of features. Works with Palm Desktop, which runs on my XP Home 512MB RAM and 2.2GHz single core computer.
Pros: Best calendar system I've ever seen, with color coding and alarms., Dropped it 10 times and still works, QWERTY keyboard for fast note taking on memopad (included), camera takes desktop wallpaper size photos (other sizes available, and black/white, date stamp options available), system lock, volume control buttons on sides, vibrate switch on top, full SD slot, QWERTY AND touchscreen, alarms, customize buttons on front
Cons: NO wifi, antennae sticks out, no cares about Palm OS anymore, calendar system uses .dba file (not sure if compatible with other programs), camera has no flash, Palm Desktop works on slow computers, USB sync feature doesn't work with Vista 64, can't access phone's files via USB
Summary: It is a bit older but It works great for the price. I got his phone for my daughter and she have been loving every minute of it. It have all the features she wants, and the web surfing she still can't give over. This is a much have if you can get it at a good price.
Summary: This phone is nice but the phone software interface is very archaic like the mid 90s with a color screen. The palm software is still too much like the palm models from around 1995-96 timeframe with color instead of monochrome. I have this phone with Sprint. The buttons are too close to one another so I double-stroke too much sometimes when typing. Also when I type things I have almost risked dropping the phone too many times because I cant have a firm grip while typing.
Summary: I have always wanted a phone that would give me the freedom and flexibility to receive and respond to email without having to translate numbers to text. This phone (although an older model) seems to have done the trick! Although the web browser is a tad slow and (as the other reviewer said) BlueTooth seems to be an issue, for what I need it for, it is better for what I need it for than the Sprint phone I switched from.
