Summary: Perhaps if I could code Linux/Android I'd have been happier. As it is - it was an interesting experiment I don't regret but wouldn't repeat it now.
Pros: It was fun for a while, and did the stuff I hoped for. But...
Cons: ... it started failing badly, hardware and software. Had to had USB port replaced, then it broke down again. And the app market was a desert. App support for what was there was poor, too. Google Maps never worked.
Summary: Great phone for Voice and Data but NO MMS... Whats that about? Can't send a picture phn to phn.. ?? don't like that. You have to use internet email to send a picture. Sometimes ya just want to send a picture. SMS is great.. Mesg alert Alarm etc..
Summary: It's a great phone but better Nokia products are heading to the market this fall and next spring. N8 and N9. But it's a nice phone for the time being - I also only buy and use Nokia phones.
Pros: Multi-tasking; NOKIA phone; touch screen; Qwerty
Cons: Qwerty hard to use if trying to hold the phone in my hands. If I have too many apps running at the same time it's very sluggish. Very bad battery life (with bluetooth and wifi and gps running) - my E90 that this replaced could run for up to 2 days with everything turned on.
Summary: I certainly wish the N900 ran on android. If one is looking for a phone first, then research the N900 first, then make your decision. THis was a poor purchase decision on my part, maybe it will grow on me. I hope. Maemo has potential for sure, but somehow i think Android will bury this OS
Pros: Big screen, good build quality, good camera/flash, skype, good cpu/memory, lots of potential (but yet untapped). multitasking is great
Cons: First, the phone aspect is secondary to the rest of the features. As this is my only phone, i find the N900 a step back for me from my N95. No name display, call quality not the greatest, at first confusing phone screen. Lack of mms. No equalizer for the music player. No date indicator with the c...
Excerpt: i saw this phone and said why not. i gave it a shot. it didn't impress me that much at first but after some firmware updates its ok. the speakers could have been louder. the touch screen is smooth most of the time.the keyboard is a bit too small for fingers.
Summary: I received the N900 today and have been playing with it for several hours. I find the form factor to be fine and like the heft. If feels solid in your hand. Others have done a good job of discussing the pros and cons of this device: it's got a great web browser, it's easy to zoom and enjoy the full...
Summary: Its a nice phone and i like it because of the freedom you get with Unlocked Nokia phones. You arent constrained to Itunes or Driod market. Its still early, so the apps arent there yet. The iPhone makes you saw, wow how cool. This one doesnt yet.
Pros: 1.Good screen, video playback is almost dvd quality. although its a pain in direct sunlight. 2.good contact/dailing app (you wont accidently call someone by touching their name), sms nicely set up. 3. Truly open, will play almost anything..apps that are available now and growing are mostly FREE! ...
Cons: 1. NO MMS, if you take a picture of something or someone at lets say the ballpark, you cant send it to your friends... i know there is a workaround with FMMS but its a bandaid and doesnt take advantage of the phones power. 2. speaker volume is terrible, if you switch a call to speaker, you have t...
Summary: love the device but the fact there software did this pi__es me off and if its a mobile computer why tha F do you need one to install this update if it had not im sure this one not have happened
Pros: great powerful device loved it (note the past tense)
Cons: does not support windows 7 cause nokias to lazy if you have windows 7 and your prompted for an update that can only be done on a computer make sure its not a windows 7 computer my phone no longer functions the update failed lingered at 1 second left for an hour then said update failed and would n...
Summary: I believe while the device is a solid piece of hardware it is NOT a mass market ready device. The current firmware leaves a lot to be desired, with complete lack of basic functionality such as MMS and being able to assign individual ringtones to contacts.
Pros: - Great build quality - Awesome display (colors + resolution) - Full desktop style web-browser - Lots of storage + additional SD card capable - Great camera and video quality for a phone - Good quality analog output on 3.5 mm headphone jack - Super hacker + modification friendly
Cons: - No MMS support in current firmware - Lack of useful 3rd party applications - Resistive touchscreen is not fully finger friendly (use stylus or fingernail) - Screen is prone to scratching (plastic) - FM Transmitter is weak and almost useless in most cars (needs more power output) - Buggy firmware
