Summary: When i first saw the n85 it appeared to be an n-series with the same integrety as for example the n95 but was deeply wrong. The o.s. Is still great as the n96 but the build is substandard as if not much thought was put in it. I still like the device after making some minor corrections to the key mat just below the screen which was attached with insufficient glue thus making it slide off or peel off. Once applying more glue to the neccessary areas it is back to normal.
Excerpt: I bought this phone from a different country than my home country, so I didn't get any international warranties. And like a couple of reviews have already listed a problem....I face the same. The phone keeps rebooting all by itself whenever playing games, taking videos/pictures, watching videos/pictures, playing music, and playing the radio.
Excerpt: I used this phone almost for one year and was tired like anything because N85 used to start behave weird anytime so finally I gave up and bought N97 N85 was my worst experience with Nokia phones but still after this phone I bought Nokia’s N97 as I liked its design, look and feel, features, and functionality and I am very much satisfied with my N97 now and there is no problem in my N97.
Nokia N85: A good but occasionally unreliable phone
19 October 2010
Summary: The Nokia N85 is really media focused- so its especially good for playing music, games and taking videos; with the added advantage of being able to call and text people too. For your general daily tasks of calling and texting- it does a good job. And most of your extra features it performs just aswell. Music, pictures, videos and games are of fantastic quality. My issues are with the battery, camera, games and internet though.
Pros: Fantastic quality, good for daily tasks and more
Cons: Not very reliable, crashing camera, use of "N-gage" gaming, rubbish battery life
Summary: So what i wanted, was a slick, lightweight, easy-to-use phone that I could text with ease, call out without a fuss and listen to my many mp3s using a mini-jack input. I had simple needs, but the more i've used this phone the more i realised that eventhough it does all of the above, i feel it could do it all just that little bit better. The phone feels a little bit fiddly, there many options and therefore many menu pages to scroll through until you get what you want.
