It runs Symbian S60 OS and thus includes all the basic PIM features along with more business applications such as QuickOffice, which lets users view and edit Microsoft Office documents, and a PDF viewer for attachments. Then there’s a 2-megapixel camera which can shoots pictures as well as video clips. Once shots are taken, you may touch up or edit them using several effects and clip art included in the onboard image editor. The N70 also supports standard connectivity including 3G, Bluetooth and USB.
Undoubtedly, the N70 is a good alternative to your PDA, but that doesn’t mean it’s a flawless performer. Nokia have surprisingly omitted Wi-Fi connectivity and this may reduce its appeal in the corporate market. Also, if you’re a music-lover, you may be disappointed with the phone’s media capabilities. Firstly, the speakers are not loud enough to be heard in noisy environments and the included headphones aren’t very good either. Secondly, the camera produces noisy and blurred images if used in dark environments. However, you can expect respectable results if you shoot in good lighting conditions. Battery life is average with 3 hours of talktime and a standby of 12 days. Overall, the N70 is a good performer and makes a worthy successor to the 6680. If you’re looking for a good smartphone with handy media features, this is the one for you.

In the looks department, it is light speeds ahead of the 6680, as the N70’s two-tone colour scheme, matte finish and smooth contours add up to give it a very original look. IMHO, a candybar phone has not looked this classy for a long time. However, the keypad suffers from the new design as it is has been crammed into a much smaller space. Although the buttons offer very good tactile feel, it is a nightmare to thumb-type on the tiny keys. Plus, there are just too many... Read more

I got this phone a number of years ago on Orange Contract. Since then I have kept it even though I have renewed contract until my latest renew where I got my Blackberry Bold (see that review) This phone I found was very hardy and useful for most of my needs. For starters the menu is the new Nokia multimedia iconic menu. This is easy to use. It has a normal key pad on the phone which needs the many button presses for letters. The phone can hald a MicroSD card for... Read more
