  • Excerpt: The Nokia Lumia 610 looks great on paper, lots of features for a relatively low price, good hardware from a renowned manufacturer and a fresh looking Operative System. In reality, however, most of the features are rendered useless by either: The frequent crashes(Personally experience over 3 a day) The lack of popular applications(many developers have not gone through the trouble of releasing for the Windows Phone platform(Instagram; Dropbox; Audible; Pandora; Youtube, etc.) and many of the popular ones are so bad, people actually use "fan made" apps more(Twitter; Facebook, etc.) And some very odd choices, like: a not user friendly way to add custom ringtones(user needs to create a sound clip not exceeding 30s and change its genre to "ringtone", only then it will be available to be used, instead of drag-and-drop or simple synchronising) the placement of the search button, which has got to be the most sensitive button in the history of mobile phones, and they placed it on the spot where your palm touches the corner of the screen while you type with your thumb(if you are right handed, like most), and then given it complete overrun control, meaning that no matter what app you are using, !even the camera!, if you place your finger a little wrong, you are greeted with Bing search. There is no option to disable or change its sensibility. I personally accidentally open Bing search over 10 times per day, after having used this phone for over half a year, it is no joke. It has also got total integration of your profile, being it on hotmail or facebook or gmail, meaning that if you want to lend the phone to a friend for them to play on it, for example, there is no way to restrict them from having access to all your info. This also applies if you need to have it fixed at the store, you need to reset everything and then set it all up again. And you get all your contacts on the same place: Work, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Might be good for some, but having an option would be beneficial. Lastly, the lack of a notification centre means that if you are not looking at the screen when something happens, it is gone, forever. Some applications like email show you if you have new emails on their icon, but for example on a popular game like Draw Something, you get a toast notification that someone has sent you a drawing, it is gone after a couple of seconds, and that is it. You need to open the app once in a while to check if there came something new while you were sleeping, working, or just not staring at your phone. Due to all this problems, and some not mentioned, like the fact that it has been obsolete the moment Windows Phone 8 came out, I consider the Nokia Lumia 610 the worst mobile phone I have ever owned, and would not recommend it or the Windows Phone 7 Operative System.
