slow

Sean G., Newegg
17 December 2010
  • Summary: If you can stand waiting, not a bad phone.
  • Pros: Solid feel. Nice buttons. Good reception.
  • Cons: Music player stopped working after a month. can still play music through file browser, but no playlists. Have to select each song when I want to play it. Mac software is so-so. Low amount of internal memory. After pushing the contacts button, it can take up to 5 seconds to bring up the list. Make...

the 3G doesnt work

khashayar g., Newegg
17 December 2010
  • Summary: if you really want a smart phone, and it must be a nokia with a good price, look at other alternatives such as the e5 or invest 50 bucks more and get the e72. even though i have treated it very badly and the it still works.i am regretting my purchase.
  • Pros: its a great all around phone.
  • Cons: first: the phone is not HSPDA and the 3G doesn't work with fido or rogers. i have done every thing and all i can get is 10 kb/s transfer rate on 3g. so i had to switch to edge which is is like 80 Kb/s Second: since nokia releases update based on locations, and your phone is coded for north americ...

Nokia E63

Martin S., Newegg
3 November 2010
  • Summary: If you are just going to use is out of the box as a phone it is a great deal. But if you want to do anything more invovled (synchronize with outlook using bluetooth, or customize the interface etc) you are in for headaches. The paper manual is very poor, and the Nokia site is not much help.
  • Pros: Price, form factor, good wi-fi range, bright display even in direct sunlight
  • Cons: awkward operating system, very poor manual, battery life is so-so

not for the Maps

AN "AN", Amazon
29 July 2010
  • Summary: I chose Nokia because I loved all the previous models I had owned (for the last 4 years, 6030). But I also wanted to get fee-free navigation and only Nokia offers downloadable maps.

questionable quality

Jason L., Newegg
7 July 2010
  • Summary: I received this phone on May 7. I love it so far because I focus more on the function. However, if you care about the "feel" of a phone in your hand, please be careful of this phone.
  • Pros: 1. It's nice to have Wi-Fi. 2. Operation system is acceptable once get used to it. 3. Battery life is good: 2~3 days with heavy wi-fi using, 9 days when idle.
  • Cons: 1. Average signal strength on Rogers network. No signal when in a elevator at first floor. 2. Loose back cover at the top two corners. 3. There is a gap under left soft key, between the face frame and the body. I can feel and hear the gap moving when I press the soft key.

User Review

Sean G., Newegg
4 July 2010
  • Summary: If its all you can afford, go for it... but if you can save up a few more dollars, try to find a better phone.
  • Pros: Can take a short fall. Somewhat intuitive navigation. Decent camera. Not a bad little phone for the price.
  • Cons: Music player took a dump a few weeks after buying it. Can still play individual songs via file manager. Mac software is not very intuitive and hard to use. Navigation can be slow at times. Trying to make an emergency phone call to someone in your contacts list can take a few angered seconds.

Sweet Phone, but bad comboing

Matthew C., Newegg
23 May 2010
  • Summary: So i have had my share of smart phones. From touch to no touch screens. Linux based to windows based. this is by far the best phone i have ever used or owned. I am used to Linux based phones where i can do or add or customize everything...but this already has most of this built in.
  • Pros: Easy cutomizing. fast, fast, fast. No internet crashing like windows based phones. spacious. thin and sleek. Exxcelent camera. Will buy a Nokia again.
  • Cons: no rubber backing. have yet to find a good quality free/cheap TV app. Only supports 8gb card. Not touch. Ordered it with impact case combo. Phone arrived 2 days ago...have yet to get the case...if you are going to combo something dont ship them separate! i purchased it to keep my screen from scra...

Great Price & Features but UI left me wanting more

B52doc, Amazon
14 April 2010
  • Summary: I did a ton of research and picked up this phone while it was on sale. I was very surprised by the small form factor and build quality. Feels very solid in your hand and the rubberized coating on the back prevents slipping. The keyboard was a change for me coming from a Blackberry.
