Review Summary

The Nokia E61 is a Symbian smart phone with a huge collection of business-friendly accessories. Its features include a plethora of productivity apps and wireless options, combined with a QWERTY keyboard, which makes the phone more suitable to the corporate user. With a slim profile and a vibrant LCD of 16 million colours, this model is on the fashionable side. But while being attractive, it is also equipped with some very professional features including viewing and editing of Microsoft Office documents, Zip files and PDF files. The model also facilitates email and instant messaging with full support for POP3, IMAP and SMTP accounts. Wireless connectivity is taken a step further with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, quadband GSM/GPRS, 3G technology (UMTS), and infrared. Also available is a powerful web browser with advanced capabilities for traveling businessmen like pop-up blocking, RSS feeds and bookmarking. Apart from the corporate features, you'll also find a respectable MP3 player where you can playback and organize music alongside the RealPlayer

While all these features do seem satisfying, many critics find the lack of a camera quite disappointing. Still, the phone compensates by performing excellently in most areas. Call quality, for example, is generally very pleasing and critics at CNET and Lord Percy agree that both reception and volume are remarkable. Battery life proved even better with at least 7 hours of talktime and 11 days of standby. There were only two major complaints with the model, namely poor support for local PC synchronization and heavy lag while switching between applications. With all that being said, the judgement would stand that while not being the most powerful business phone in the world, the Nokia E61 is still a solid performer and certainly a corporate-crowd pleaser.
