Nokia's No-No

Cingular0803, Phone Scoop
20 August 2006
  • Excerpt: Given the fact that this phone is lightweight and has a nice, long-lasting Lithium Ion battery (for those who don't know, most Nokia phones come with a standard NiMh Battery, which gains a memory if it's charged before it's fully drained.), this is probably one of the biggest problem phones I have seen come through my store. If the phone is dropped, you are out of luck! Overall, the phone is mediocre, to say the very most, but entirely too fragile!

Long-term ownership report

gringus, Phone Scoop
13 August 2006
  • Excerpt: You don't see a lot of long-term ownership reports on Phonescoop, but as my 8265 approaches 2 years, I thought I'd share how reliable this phone has been for me. I've gone through 5 headsets for this phone but the phone itself remains as solid as a rock. My wife's 3360, aquired around the same time, is falling apart but the 8265 just doesn't age. It's been dropped 500 times. Reception remains outstanding.

Nokia 8265; the best

kimis, Phone Scoop
3 August 2006
  • Excerpt: Had this phone for several years now; entire family has one too. Just fyi: went through the trouble of switching out for a GSM Nokia 3200, touted as a great phone...well, 4 out of 4 us had many reception & service problems w/ATT's GSM network; unanimous...we returned all GSM phones and stuck w/Nokia 8265. Best reception, still believe that the higher the model # the better the antenna and quality.

Cons and Prods

Connivel, Phone Scoop
2 July 2006
  • Excerpt: There is only one thing that I don't like about it, is they decided to move the headset jack to the buttom of the phone. This is one thing that takes away with the fm radio device for the 8260 (which is an awesome thing to have). The second thing about moving the headjack is if you carry the phone in your pocket the phone is going upside down, not to mention the fact that it can be disconnect real easly. The phone itself is a great phone.

8265 RF changes

hominid7, Phone Scoop
20 June 2006
  • Excerpt: The new 8265 as well as the 6360 both have integrated the "next generation" antenna's. Gone are the fragile foil type internal antenna, and the new ones are 2 piece metal antennas. One piece being flat, much like the old foil type, with the addition of a hook-shaped traditional looking metal antenna beside it. The changes do appear to help, especially in touchy areas. The 8265 also improves in the areas of ringer loudness as well as incoming audio.

Great Phone... Until the Warranty Expires

JessicaB, Phone Scoop
3 June 2006
  • Excerpt: I've had the Nokia 8265 phone for just over a year now. It's my 4th Nokia phone - why is it they all seem to die/break just after the warranty expires? Overall, I have really enjoyed this phone but just after a year I'm picking up horrible (LOUD) static on just about all calls. I've been told by the oh so knowledgeable reps from AT&T that it's a "software problem" with the phone.
