The Nokia 6131 is an mid-range addition to Nokia’s 6000 series. While most cell phones are either crammed with multimedia or business features, the 6131 boasts a very good collection of both and appeals to a wider market. To start with, it sports an amazing true color display, which is capable of 16.7 million colors. Then there’s the 1.3-megapixel camera that comes with an optical viewfinder, autofocus and allows you to zoom up to 8X digitally. There is also a media player installed which supports six media formats and includes some customizations. On the business side, the phone is stuffed with a variety of organizers, push-to-talk support, email for POP3, SMTP, IMAP4 accounts and full Bluetooth.

Unfortunately, the 6131 doesn’t perform well enough to complement its features. But there are definitely a few areas of excellence including call quality and interface. Calls sound crisp and users hardly need to strain to hear callers. Louder environments may cause some disturbance but not nearly enough to disrupt a conversation. The phone’s interface is hassle-free and is a major improvement over other Nokia phones. The camera is poor though as it produces sub-par images which nobody but Nokia can call professional. Battery life is also mediocre, lasting a terrible 5 days if used economically. However, the 6131 was never intended to compete with biggies in the market and is admittedly, a mid-range handset. And in its own genre, the 6131 certainly gets a high ranking.
