Excerpt: I was pretty happy with the Motorola V220. I used it for basic emergency and in-car calling, but I switched carriers and wanted a "texters" phone, so I've sent it for recycling now. It's not very stylish as flip phones go, but it's simple to use and small enough to fit in my pocket (as well as the cell phone pocket of my purse).
It's a great inexpensive phone that meets my needs.

Excerpt: I've had this phone for 10 months, and have had no problems at all. It is compact and easy to manage. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, so this meets my needs completely. The price is very affordable, and I am completely satisfied. I've had no dropped calls or transmission problems.
If you want to get the cheaper phones, this is the one to get.

Excerpt: This phone is pretty good if you need cheap plans and cheap phones. So, for instance, if you only use your cell phone for emergencies contacts and not conversations, this is the phone to use. The way to get the cheapest plan is to get the cheapest phone with the company and do basic plan, in which you pay by the minute.
Excerpt: This little puppy was awesome, I can download mp3 ringtones, take pictures, send pictures, and Text.Huge step up from the Nokia I had, this little baby pumped, when my buddy bought one of the first Razr that came in even though it was impressive my little v220 went toe to toe with it, even the volume of the ringtones was slightly louder!very sturdy considering it was mostly plastic. This is one phone I can honestly say I really enjoyed!
Summary: The phone is just like I read and looks just like the picture. It is a very nice phone and love the look, do not have it hooked up for service yet but I do not see any problems. It do not take long at all to get it in the mail.
Motorola V220 the beginners guide - use repair, modify
24 June 2008
Summary: The Motorola V220 was a popular Cingular phone in the US and a popular Rogers phone in Canada. One of the first truely useable sim card (gsm) phones, it was small, more or less rugged, could hook to a PC with relative ease, and most important: Folks who like to play with the programming of phones LOVED IT. It is also rather easy to repair, which you might need to learn how to do, because a lot of the really cheap ones have something wrong with them.
Summary: My complaint is only weak antenna capturing signals. My nokia works inside my home, but this phone does not and always says no signals. Other than that, it's ok for the cheap price compare to others.
Summary: I have bought this phone because of the price to be given to first time cellphone users.Because it have tri-band you can use it in so many different countries. It is very handy and it comes with a camera.I dont like it when its getting old,the silver start coming off.
Summary: The V220 is a fairly rugged instrument, but it is not as good with weak signals as many other phones. The 640/480 camera is useful at times, but I wouldn't want to try this phone for heavy multi-media use. Within my family, we have had 4 of these; 2 developed various problems (mainly external screen) after 2-3 years of normal use, which makes it a reasonably cost-effective solution for someone who wants a basic cell phone.
